Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, My name is Chef Mackeisha Peeples, I am 29 years old and I am from Youngstown, OH. I have been in the culinary industry since I was 9 years old and trained by a professional and private chef, Roberta Greene, who introduced me to the path of black female entrepreneurship. I discovered my passion for cooking early by way of my grandad Larry and my mother, Cathryn. Through these powerful role models, I was inspired and allowed my creativity to grow and flow.
My childhood dream was always to be a chef, specifically a TV chef. I would watch shows like Julia Childs, Martha Stewart, Emeril, Rachael Ray, Chopped, and a plethora of other shows that influenced my career path. In 2015, I became a mother and continued to pursue a culinary degree, which I graduated in 2018. I continued to work in the restaurant and hotel industry as well as doing private catering.
In 2020 I took the leap of faith and moved to Mesa, Arizona having never been that far from home, riding an airplane, and having a 4-year-old and $300 in my pocket. Despite all the odds being against me I persevered and continued towards my dream.
I started an LLC and ventured into private aviation catering, meal prep, and private events. In 2022 I executive produced my own cooking show on YouTube and published my first cookbook book the Art of Restaurant Cooking At Home on Amazon. I continue to move towards my dream of being a Celebrity TV chef and getting on a major network.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a challenging yet rewarding journey. Some of the struggles and obstacles I have faced include depression, homelessness, grief, shedding of the old self, anxiety, and having to create a lane that is unique to me. Despite these challenges, I have experienced the joys.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
The role of luck has played a role in my personal and professional development. I have experienced success and failure, yet God continues to support and encourage me. I don’t attain nor discredit luck, but I definitely know faith and my strong belief in God have gotten me where I am and will continue to go. No, I’m not lucky I’m blessed.
