Today we’d like to introduce you to Loren Howard.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For the longest time, my dream was to play in the NFL. Sports was a natural part of who I was, and so when I first played football something clicked. I was driven to be the best, strongest, and fastest player I could be.
I went on to play college football, and I was determined to be the best. I was a Freshman All-American Defensive End, and Big Ten Defensive Freshman of the year. Sophomore year, I was All-Conference Defensive End, and in my Junior year preseason, Mel Kiper ranked me the second defensive end to go in the draft. The third pick went first in the draft (Mario Williams) and the guy ahead of me went 10th that year in the draft. Unfortunately, I got injured and never really recovered properly and couldn’t complete at the same level.
I was always extremely driven self-motivated so when I transitioned from sport to business, it just made sense to go my own way. My first successful company was focused on graphic design and website packages. I wanted to see if I could repeat the success, so I transitioned this y company into a lead generation and made my first million. When it was time to phase out the lead generation business. After launching another successful company in the medical industry, I wanted to help expand the real estate investing in my hometown.
My primary business is now Prime Plus Mortgages. I knew investors needed more options for real estate investments, and so we are focused on becoming the best hard money lender in Arizona.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Transitioning into business was one of the hardest things I have ever done. In the beginning, you don’t know what you don’t know. Business was new to me, so there was so much to learn so quickly in order to have any type of success. I had to learn a lot of lessons quickly, and turn around failure to make myself a success.
I full-heartedly believe that if you are committed to growth and learning, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. If you keep learning new things daily, that drive and curiosity will make you successful. Don’t be afraid to take risks, and chase the big idea to see where it will lead!

It has accelerated a lot of things with technology like zoom use and mobile work. Covid sped up the adoption of these technologies. It’s interesting to see how much more efficient businesses have been able to get through this time when they have been forced to evaluate inefficiencies. Desperation is a hell of a motivator. It will be interesting to see how these changes will affect other industries like commercial office space, corporate travel, and migration to more rural areas.
