Community Highlights: Meet Karla Storey of Anthology Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Storey.

Hi Karla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t start my business because I had it all figured out – I started it because I didn’t.

After years of overachieving and burning out, I found myself sitting in therapy realizing how much of my life had been spent performing for love and approval. I became a therapist to help others untangle the same patterns – the perfectionism, the anxiety, the emotional neglect that leaves you feeling disconnected from yourself even when everything “looks good” on paper.

What started as a traditional private practice grew into Anthology Collective, a space that blends therapy, EMDR intensives, and creative, somatic healing experiences. My work now focuses on helping high-achieving women slow down, feel again, and rebuild safety within themselves – not through striving, but through softness.

It’s been a journey of unlearning survival mode and creating the kind of practice (and life) that feels aligned, embodied, and real.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all – the road has been anything but smooth, but it’s been deeply meaningful.

Building a business in the mental health world while healing my own patterns has been equal parts humbling and transformative. There were seasons where I was overworking, questioning if I was doing enough, and learning how to hold space for others while also learning to hold space for myself.

Navigating business growth, boundaries, and burnout taught me that healing and entrepreneurship often run parallel. I had to learn that rest isn’t laziness, vulnerability is leadership, and alignment matters more than hustle.

Every challenge – from financial uncertainty to self-doubt – has refined how I show up, not just as a therapist, but as a human. It’s what keeps my work honest and heart-centered.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Anthology Collective?
Anthology Collective is a therapy practice built for the ones who’ve always held it together – the high achievers, the caretakers, the emotionally neglected girlies who learned early on to be everything for everyone else.

I specialize in EMDR therapy, trauma healing, and emotional neglect recovery – helping women slow down, feel again, and rebuild safety from the inside out. My work goes beyond traditional talk therapy; it’s experiential, creative, and rooted in nervous system repair. I also offer therapy intensives and somatic practices designed to help clients go deeper, faster, and feel more connected to themselves.

What sets Anthology Collective apart is the heart behind it – it’s not about fixing yourself, it’s about coming home to yourself.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Anthology feels like a reflection of real healing – messy, soft, honest, and full of hope. I want readers to know that therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or intimidating. It can feel like exhaling, like remembering who you were before life told you to be someone else.
