Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Powers of JPowers Hair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Powers.

Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I went to cosmetology school when I was 15 & half and instantly feel in love with the feeling of making people feel beautiful, I opened up my suite in March 2019.

I’m super passionate about hair, and achieving my clients hair goals while maintaining the integrity of the hair. I went into the beauty industry to help women see the beauty that was always there. Bonus I get to meet the most amazing women & when you’re in my shop you’re family.

I believe in work-life balance, I’m a SAHM four days a week for my little man. I work the other 3 in my shop. I love talking to and loving all of you, it fills my cup back up so that I can pour it back into my family the rest of the week.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I didn’t start in the industry right away. I was young and intimidated.

One day I decided what am waiting for, so I decided to apply for jobs and landed my first stylist job for a chain. After a year I needed more and became an assistant and then a manager of my own salon shortly after.

I managed that salon for three years then again I wanted more. My now husband encouraged me to open my own suite it was scary & exciting but the best decision of my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m most proud of always furthering my education so that I can give my client the best for their hair, I always pride myself in keeping the integrity of ones hair while achieving your hair dreams.

What are your plans for the future?
I actually just took my next step and opened my own suite by myself. I’ve always shared a room, & I’m so excited so this next step for JPowers Hair.
