Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Hershfield of Just Enough Wines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hershfield.

Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
As we entered our late 20s and early 30s, and our lives evolved in every way (careers, dating, families, friends), we began to drink wine differently, too. Relaxing at the end of the day with a great glass of wine or savoring one with friends became something we truly cherished, an experience much more about quality than quantity. Bottled wine didn’t work out well for what we wanted in those moments; it was simply too much. And that too-muchness led to waste and excess—completely out of alignment with not only how we wanted to drink wine, but also how we wanted to treat the planet.

The more we talked about it, the more we realized the need for something deliciously different. We decided to create a more conscious drinking experience: pleasure-forward, perfectly portioned, sustainably sourced, consciously canned wine. Wines worthy of your relaxation ritual because they’re lusciously tasteful and aligned with what you value, from savoring every sip to limiting your impact on the planet. As a respite from the not enough and too much of this world, we created a reliably right experience: Just Enough.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It is true what people say, entrepreneurship definitely comes with its highs and lows. While on the whole, the path to where we are today has been smooth, it hasn’t come without its challenges. The biggest struggle for us has been to remain patient along the way, and learn from our mistakes. The wine world is slow, and things take a long time to come to fruition, the most important thing is for us to learn from the past, and keep moving forward.

A fun, “mistake” we made was when we didn’t check the correct shipping address was being used on delivery. I live in San Francisco in a walk-up apartment, and my apartment is my office. One morning this massive truck pulls up and calls me stating he has my 6 pallets of shippers here for delivery. If you’ve ever seen a pallet, you know it’s not going to get up the stairs to my apartment, and it’s not going to fit in an SF apartment, let alone 6 of them.

Lesson learned – double and triple-check your orders with your vendors to make sure they have everything correct!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Just Enough Wines?
We believe that wines worthy of your relaxation ritual are both lusciously delicious and aligned with what you value.

That’s why we created a more conscious drinking experience. Just Enough elevates your every day and is a relaxation ritual in a can, for you to savor whenever and wherever you are.

Just Enough Wines is a premium canned wine brand based out of San Francisco. Our award-winning wines are 1.5 glasses of sustainably produced wine from the Central Coast. We are female-founded, and practice sustainability in all aspects of our business.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Ask for help. I knew nothing about the wine industry before starting Just Enough except that I loved drinking wine.

The most important thing I have done to drive the business forward is to ask for help. Whether it was reaching out to a random person on LinkedIn, or asking a close friend for a connection, every time I asked for help, people were more than willing, and it allowed us to move the business forward faster.
