Community Highlights: Meet Jeneh Young of Doggy and Bark Co. Pet Grooming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeneh Young.

Hi Jeneh, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I originally trained thru petco, in 2006 I started working at Best Friends Grooming. Moved from Groomer to manager and then owner in 2009. In 2017 I sold Best Friends to focus on my Family and I started Doggy & Bark from my home in Feb 2018. Doggy and bark became wildly successful, more then I ever imagined or dreamed of. I decided to go back to brick in Mortar and officially opened in April 2025. Doggy & Bark is more than just a grooming salon. We provide a calm environment, we do every pet one on one so there are no unnecessary wait times or long visits. Pet’s can become Anxious when away from their families and I want them to feel safe and comfortable and enjoy the grooming process, as it is so necessary for most breeds for their entire lives. It brings me immense joy when a dog comes in so excited and tail wagging to see us.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have worked very hard to create trust between the owners and pets. It takes time and constancy for that trust to build. I have become successful in this field because the pet’s comfort has always been my priority.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Doggy and Bark Co. Pet Grooming ?
Doggy & Bark Co. prides itself in offering one on one services for every pet. All of our appointments are booked straight thru so pets are waiting for hours to be worked on or drying under fans. We do our best to keep the salon calm and quiet, although we do occasionally have talkers, to every pet is relaxed and comfortable. We strongly believe in continued education, so we can provide the best quality services available. We use high end products to help keep their skin and coat healthy. We believe in patience and kindness towards all pets and love when we can show a fearful or anxious dog that grooming can be enjoyable. At doggy and bark we strongly believe that the health and comfort of all pets comes before vanity, but we always do our absolute best to accommodate a clients desires as long as the pet isnt in pain during the process.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in the very green and beautiful state of Washington. I spent most of my days playing outside with friends, camping and riding dirt bikes with my mom and spending time at the ocean/lakes with my grandparents. My family always had animals around so my love of dogs started at a very young age.
