Hi Jazz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey hey! I’m Jazz the face behind Smooth Peaches Waxing Studio! I’ve been a licensed esthetician going on 4 years now but have been in the beauty industry for 8 years total. I was originally a nail tech, and after doing that for 4 years I found a new love, WAXING! I worked for a couple corporate waxing salons at the start of my wax specialist career, I learned a lot, perfected my craft and decided it was time to branch out on my own, and Smooth Peaches was born! I opened in August of 2025, in the heart of Downtown Tempe! I started with bare bones, I had the basics and that’s it! Honestly, I took a leap of faith, because I knew since the beginning of beauty school that I wanted to be a business owner and create a safe, judgement free space for everyone. I moved from Tucson, AZ in 2024 with that goal in mind. And it was finally time to make my dream a reality! Body waxing can be intimidating to some and I want to make sure that the minute you step foot into my studio, all the nerves and doubts disappear. In the short 7 months that Smooth Peaches has been opened we’ve grown a lot and I’m extremely grateful for everyone’s support, and I’m so excited to see what 2026 has in store!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For me personally it wasn’t a smooth road, the beginning was very tough for me. I was trying to make something out of nothing! Like I said I started with the basics, bare minimum, but I was determined. I don’t have a support system like most would when starting something new, so it was a lot of doubts, hesitations, and even regrets in the beginning. I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice, I was always waiting for the time to be right when in reality you’re never ready. Change is uncomfortable and it’s scary and I had to take that jump and make it work. I could’ve never imagined that I would be where I am now in the short 7 months that I’ve been open, watching my dreams come to life is an amazing feeling. My hard work has paid off, and I turned that nothing into something!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Opening a business is 100% a risk. And it was a risk I was willing to take. I was let go from my job and decided it was now or never, I either make something work or drown, drowning wasn’t an option for me. I knew I could make it work if I focused and put my all into this opportunity that I was creating for myself, I could create something big. I think a lot of amazing things come from taking risks and it’s something everyone should do. There’s endless possibilities but you’ll never know the outcome if you don’t try.
