Community Highlights: Meet Jaime Birzer of Juicy by Jaime

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Birzer.

Jaime, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been personal training for almost four years now, and I’ve had my own business, Juicy by Jaime, for almost one year.

I’m from Kansas, was born and raised, and have always been athletic. I loved volleyball and track growing up, and went on to play college volleyball in Texas. I’ve always loved the discipline it took to be really great at a sport, and I got hooked on weightlifting in my sophomore year of college. I’m pretty competitive — especially with myself — and I loved that “success” all depended on how hard I could push myself in the gym. I loved learning all I could about lifting, muscle-building, and how the body works. I decided to get my personal training certification in college — but I actually never planned on becoming a trainer as a career (lol). I just wanted to have the formal education and knowledge, because I had so many friends and schoolmates asking me for training advice (but until then, I only had my own personal experience to share with them). I wanted more science-backed advice I could share.

When I first moved to Scottsdale from Dallas, I worked a corporate job in advertising sales. I was a certified trainer but didn’t actually do anything with my certification for almost three years… I just didn’t think personal training could be a stable “career”.

After a couple of years, I started my own boot camp class (Bootycamp AZ) and hosted it for free every Saturday morning at Indian School Park. So many of my friends and colleagues wanted to lift, but needed more guidance and ideas of what they could be doing! I ran Bootycamp for a little more than a year and loved it so much… And then, I finally realized it was time for me to leave my sales job and go work in the fitness industry. I felt like I’d learned and grown all I could at my corporate job, and I just knew training was what I was called to do!

I teach my girls how to build strength in the gym that transfers to their everyday lives — lifting is literally life-changing, and I want to share it with as many women as possible!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, I am so blessed to say that it has been relatively very smooth sailing for me. I have the best clients, and I work in an awesome gym with good management and great equipment.

The toughest thing for me, as an entrepreneur and business owner, is managing my time and saying “no”. I am someone who gets overwhelmed very easily. And it’s hard for me because I want to help everyone, and I want to try and fit in with every woman who comes to me inquiring about training. But, since I’m only one person, I just physically can’t help everyone! I learned after my first year of training that I really need to have boundaries as far as my schedule and carve out time for myself. For example, I NEED a small break in the morning between clients for breakfast, or I get hangry and am not my best trainer-self by the end of the day lol. And I only work half days on Tuesdays and Fridays, so that I have time for errands, admin work, and refueling! When I take on new clients, I only take on 1-3 at a time, so that I can truly focus on them, get them acclimated to the flow of our training sessions, and set them up for long-term success.

I was super burnt out and overwhelmed after my first year of training. But, since then, I have learned to set limits and boundaries in certain areas — that way I can work more efficiently, have more energy, be less overwhelmed — and, ultimately, serve my clients the best way possible!

I also am an avid note-taker, and I LIVE by my Google Calendar and physical planner. I would go crazy without them haha.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Juicy by Jaime LLC is a personal training company. I work with only women and have clients from 20-45 years old — from advanced weightlifters to true beginners. I’m probably most known for building strong, powerhouse glutes and legs. But that is definitely not all we do. Honestly, having a big booty is trendy these days, but I have always been passionate about building glutes because having strong glutes is key to athletic performance, functional movement, and an overall healthy body.

If you want to lift for life, move well in the long term, and have a healthy back, hips, etc. — glutes strength and function are key!

I have multiple certifications: My base personal training cert is from American Council on Exercise, but I’m also an ACE Functional Training Specialist, and I have a Pain-Free Performance Specialist Certification.

Something that sets me apart from other trainers is just how seriously I take my education and continuing education. Especially nowadays, with social media, there is so much misleading information out there… The fitness industry has honestly become diluted by accounts of “coaches” selling programs with no formal education, training, or science behind them. But when you’re literally dealing with people’s health: Education and experience matter. I’ve grown so much as a trainer in the past four years, and there are so many things I used to do when I started that I don’t teach anymore lol. But because I am constantly learning — going to seminars, taking accredited classes, doing research, etc. — I’m able to create up-to-date, effective programming for my clients. People are trusting me with their health, their goals, and – in some ways – their future, and I take that very, very seriously.

I also put myself through the workouts I have my clients do. I am in the gym every day, grinding in my own training, experimenting with different pieces of equipment, and planning the best ways to serve my community. I practice what I preach! I don’t just film Instagram and TikTok content to look like I’m training… I actually put in the work lol.

I am incredibly passionate about teaching my clients the “why” behind every exercise. It’s not enough to just rattle off exercises and have them copy me. My goal is for each of my girls to learn their bodies (everyone is different!), learn how to be in control of their movement, improve their quality of movement, increase strength, and build gym confidence that transfers to other areas of their life!! Weightlifting truly is a skill — and it got to be practiced in order to be mastered. I LOVE seeing a client master a new lift or seeing that smile on their face when an exercise finally *clicks*. It’s the best feeling to know that patience and practice have paid off!

My clients also might say I’m also known for putting a ton of emphasis on “mind-muscle connection”. Every movement should be intentional; Again, this connection is a skill that must be mastered! But it will literally change your life and your lifting once you do.

One thing I am most proud of is the Juicy community I have built. My clients are fiercely loyal, but I think it’s because they are committed to themselves and the lifting process. They come to me with an open mind — ready to learn, ready to get uncomfortable, and ready to grow. When you decide to make this a lifestyle (and not just look for a quick fix), you truly set yourself up for success. I’m blessed to have a community of women who are there to better themselves, and help each other get there, too! My Juicy Crew is made up of women from all backgrounds, but they are all so welcoming, friendly, and hardworking. I’ve loved seeing their progress but also seeing them make friends and have FUN while working hard every day… That is one of the best parts about what I do.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
