Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Robinson.
Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Michigan and the mother of three grown children. My daughter, who came first, and later, twin boys and now a grandmother to three. My family has been an important part of my life, alongside the journey of building my career.
My creative path began with art. I opened my first gallery while launching Blue Heron Interiors, later expanding into Blue Heron Designs in Birmingham, an affluent suburb ousting of Detroit, Michigan. Art was never separate from design for me, it has always been the soul of it.
Life eventually brought me to New Jersey, just outside of New York, where I produced high-profile charity events and immersed myself in a philanthropic world that refined my appreciation for detail, atmosphere, and beauty.
When that chapter closed, I relocated to Arizona with my children and began again. Starting over required strength I didn’t always know I had. In the years that followed, we experienced deep loss with the passing of my twins’ father to cancer. That season changed us and deepened me in ways that quietly shape how I live and create today.
Through every transition, creativity remained my anchor. Today, through Heather Robinson Designs, I create refined, thoughtfully curated residential and commercial spaces in collaboration with private clients, custom home builders, and commercial contractors across multiple states. My work draws from my love of art, materials and texture, crafting spaces that are elevated, distinctly personal, and timeless.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey hasn’t been a straight path, reinventing myself professionally has had its challenges. The design industry has changed tremendously over the past 25 years with advancements in digital technology, social media, new CAD programs and now AI. is transforming the way we work and connect with clients. I’ve had to keep learning and adapting to stay current while staying true to my creative vision. Moving to new places, building fresh connections, and finding my footing again has taken persistence, but it’s also fueled my growth and kept me motivated to grow in ways I never imagined.
We’ve been impressed with Heather Robinson Designs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heather Robinson Designs is a residential and commercial interior design firm creating one-of-a-kind spaces. Each project begins with the client’s vision, personality, and lifestyle. I don’t impose a style, I uncover theirs. Just as no two pieces of art are the same, no two spaces I create are alike. Every project is thoughtfully curated and elevated, resulting in interiors that feels distinctincly personal, and timeless. I’m proud of this approach because it allows me to create interiors that are unique to each client while maintaining the elevated, artful sensibility that defines my brand.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m focused on expanding Heather Robinson Designs while continuing to build and strengthen my relationships with custom home builders, architects, artists and art dealers. I’m excited by the opportunity to work in new regions, experience different cultures, and draw inspiration from diverse artistic perspectives that keep my creativity fresh. For me, the future is about growth, exploration, and creating elevated, curated spaces that are as unique as the clients I work with.
