Community Highlights: Meet Hannah Royal of Skin Made Royal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Royal.

Hi Hannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I first started Skin Made Royal, it was originally known as Desert Queen Esthetics. I didn’t have much to work with, but I knew I wanted this business to work because of the impact I knew that I could make. I wanted to help other people love their skin that God gave them. There was a time I hated my own skin and I know that someone else feels the way I used to feel about my own skin. I was also tired of the back and forth from social media on what skincare products are good or bad for your skin so I enrolled myself in an esthetics program to become a licensed professional. I quickly fell in love with facials and I knew this would be one of the ways I could help people love their skin. At the time, I didn’t have the money to pay for school out of pocket so I applied to different jobs and picked up a few side hustles. It wasn’t long before I came across an application that was a Sephora Beauty Internship. I applied for it not thinking much. A week later, I received the call that I was accepted and I had received a scholarship that would cover the rest of my tuition. Because of that 6 month internship, I had extra funds that went all in to launching my spa suite in Mesa. It’s definitely not been an easy journey, but it’s been rewarding. I have been able to connect with skincare and beauty CEO’s and Professional Makeup Artists with brands inside Sephora. I also couldn’t have done this journey without my business bestie, Bella. I met her when we were in esthetics school and we have been each other’s sounding board and business partner in a way. We share the same spa and offer similar, but different services. We often share the same exact thoughts on business decisions and I tell a lot of people that we are a package deal, if you get one of us-you will get both of us. I am also excited to announce that Skin Made Royal is moving to Gilbert and will be located inside The Beauty Joint which also houses other beauty professionals. Bella is coming with me, of course! One of the best pieces of advice I was given was “consistency is key, so don’t give up and show up everyday.” I live by that motto everyday. If I’m not posting about my business on social media, I am working hard behind the scenes.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There have been many times when I wanted to throw in the towel and call it quits. But I knew if I were to call it quits, then I would be showing my two kids that it’s okay to quit your dreams. If you have a dream or a big goal, God put it there for a reason. I think my biggest struggle was that I started to compare my “Day 1” to tenured professionals in the esthetics industry. So another piece of advice I would give to anyone wanting to start whatever business they want to start is to not compare your “day 1” to someone’s “day 100”. Another struggle of mine is being patient and waiting for the right time. I wanted and expected a lot of things to happen overnight and when they didn’t, I questioned if I was supposed to be doing this. I have definitely learned to be patient in building my business from the ground up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Skin Made Royal is a solo owned spa business located inside of The Beauty Joint in Gilbert, AZ. I specialize in corrective and relaxing facials. I am also a certified Acne Expert through Face Reality. Some of the skincare brands I use is Face Reality, Epicutis, and GlyMed Plus! I am hoping to bring on more services such as body treatments later this fall. What sets me apart is that I focus on healing and strengthening the skin barrier so my clients can enjoy long-term results, not just a quick glow. By blending results-driven treatments with a calming spa touch, I make skincare easy to understand and empowering — so you always leave feeling refreshed, confident, and taken care of. I also offer dermaplaning treatments, chemical peels, and something I can’t say just yet, but my current clients and future clients will LOVE. You will have to follow along to see what is launching this fall!

What are your plans for the future?
I think about the future a lot, but I’m excited about what it holds. I would definitely love to be able to expand in 5-10 years and have a facial boutique that is catered to moms who needs a sitter. I would love to have a small daycare that moms can drop their littles off and enjoy a facial or shop the boutique. This isn’t planned yet, but I would love to do something like this. My husband wants to open up a coffee shop so I could envision a 3 in 1 facial/daycare/coffee boutique.

Pricing:

  • $99 for New Client/First Time Facials
  • $145 for 60 Minute Facials
