Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Greg Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Greg Jones.

Hi Dr. Jones, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Dr. Greg Jones and I am a Naturopathic Physician practicing in Phoenix, AZ. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois and have been in the Phoenix area for a little over eight years now. My path and story to the doctor and person I am today started with joining the Navy when I was 17 years old and serving 20 years, first as an enlisted submariner and retiring as a nuclear engineering officer… but in reality, it started when me and my mother lived in homeless shelters when I was a child. That experience, that trauma, gave me the drive and motivation to believe I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

After retirement, I moved to Phoenix to work at Honeywell Aerospace in the Quality Engineering Department. While I was grateful for this opportunity, I knew deep down I was not living my true purpose. My undergraduate degree is in Biomedical Engineering so I’ve always been drawn to the medical field. I initially sought out pharmacy but after attending a graduation ceremony at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, I knew right away that Naturopathic Medicine is where I belonged. The decision to change directions and become a Naturopathic Doc is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am grateful for the chance to help people improve their health every day and to show there is hope for overcoming the medical challenges they may face. I am humbled by my beginnings and will never forget where I came from.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! I decided against taking a residency and have worked at several clinics before deciding to go into practice for myself. The first struggle is getting out of school and realizing you only know enough to be dangerous! Next is realizing that learning the business end of medicine can be as difficult as the scientific side at times. I’ve set up shop in gyms giving free B12 shots and acupuncture, worked in the medicinal marijuana certification space, and spent quite a bit of time and money in honing my craft and learning the skills needed to be successful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My mission in medicine is to shift the conversation away from “sick” care and empower you with the knowledge to be fit at 40, a fireball at 50, sexy at 60, super at 70, and agile at 80. In a nutshell, my goal is to make the unhealthy feel well, the well feel amazing, and the amazing feel unstoppable. My practice uses an integrative approach to wellness, vitality, and longevity using customized and individualized approaches to Naturopathic Medicine, Hormone & Testosterone Replacement (TRT), Peptide Therapy, Regenerative Injections and NAD IV Therapy.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The best piece advice I can give to anyone starting off is to simply never, ever, ever let anyone tell you that you are not capable or deserving of success. I wish I knew to trust myself and my abilities as a physician sooner.
