Today, we’d like to introduce you to Erica Koelling.

Erica Koelling

Hi Erica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.

I come from a small town in New Mexico, where my childhood was defined by the constant presence of my four brothers. In our household, certain rituals and pastimes shaped our interactions. Sports and competition were paramount, as was the relentless quest to prove oneself amidst doubting siblings. Our movie nights often featured classics like “Bloodsport” or “Kickboxer,” endlessly replayed for maximum impact.

One of our favorite pastimes involved trying to outdo each other in displays of intimidation, a game where the first to yield would lose face. Sometimes, clashes of dominant personalities or alphas escalated into physical altercations, where strength and dominance were prized above all else. In our microcosm, respect was measured in acts of intimidation, and vulnerability equated to weakness. Fear became a constant companion, and survival instincts were ever-present.

Even as the only girl among my siblings, my love for sports blazed fiercely. This dedication led me to secure a full-ride scholarship at the University of Alabama, where I achieved my dream of playing D1 softball as a fast-pitch pitcher known for my “junk”, making me nearly unstoppable. Sadly, my softball career came to an abrupt halt due to a sports injury just a few games shy of completing my senior season.

Being away from home offered me a fresh perspective. Alabama became a catalyst for profound self-reflection, where I unearthed the fractures in my family’s history of abuse. This revelation ignited an insatiable curiosity within me—a desire to question everything I once held as truth. As I began dismantling my belief systems, I noticed tangible shifts in my external reality.

This realization fueled my fascination with life and drove me to pursue studies in Community Health Promotions and Psychology.

After graduating, I dived into healthcare consulting, sharpening both my business skills and competitive edge. Growing up in a household that embraced the ethos of “survival of the fittest,” climbing the corporate ladder felt like a natural progression for me. Thriving in an environment where individual success was paramount, I embraced the challenge of climbing the ranks. With 18 years of experience navigating this competitive landscape under my belt, I was well-equipped for a career in sales in corporate America.

At the same time, I delved into core energy coaching, obtaining certification that aided me in navigating mental health obstacles and discovering my true self. This journey progressed further with Quantum Science, offering a revolutionary outlook on life.

In September of 2015, my life took an unexpected turn with the devastating news of my dear friend’s sudden passing. His tragic death, discovered in his garage with a broken neck, deeply shook me to my core. Despite having faced loss before, his departure struck a chord within me, as if it unlocked a hidden reservoir of emotions and propelled me towards embracing my passion for helping others cultivate self-awareness.

With this fresh outlook, my husband and I set out on a venture to establish RYZR, a pioneering healthcare company focused on harnessing self-awareness technology to unlock individual potential. Our vision extended to include live webinars and workshops, offering accessible resources for personal growth, enriching the lives of our clients and the communities we are privileged to serve. Our ultimate goal is to foster healthy, supportive communities, one person at a time. We firmly believe that by elevating oneself, we elevate humanity as a whole.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Looking back on my journey of self-discovery, I’ve faced several challenges that have pushed me to grow and persevere. One of the most impactful struggles involved navigating the dynamics of my family and upbringing.  Being the only girl among four brothers came with its own set of hurdles. I frequently felt like I didn’t fit in and struggled to carve out my identity amidst the predominantly masculine environment. This led me to adopt traits of competitiveness and aggression as a defense mechanism, which sometimes hindered my ability to express myself authentically.

Furthermore, coming to terms with the fractures in my family’s generational history of abuse was profoundly unsettling. Confronting this harsh reality compelled me to reassess my notions of love and success, pushing me to break away from dysfunctional patterns perpetuated through generations.

Despite facing tough times, dealing with my mental health was a big challenge. I had to confront my negative thoughts and beliefs directly, which meant really digging deep and committing to personal growth. Sometimes, as I tried to let go of old ways of thinking, I felt lost, like I didn’t know who I truly was anymore. It felt like going through lots of changes, almost like small deaths, as I reshaped my thoughts to match my real self.

However, every obstacle I faced became a chance for me to grow and change. Through staying strong and reflecting on myself, I managed to overcome these challenges and come out even stronger than before. Ultimately, these tough times shaped my journey of self-discovery and gave me the drive to make positive changes in the world.

What matters most to me is the profound impact we can have on others’ lives. Whether it’s through our actions, words, or the services we provide, being able to positively influence someone’s life and empower them to shine their own light is a privilege and a responsibility I cherish deeply.

At the core of my beliefs is a strong faith in human potential—the inherent ability within each person to grow, learn, and thrive. I am fully committed to helping others recognize and unlock their own potential, enabling them to pursue their dreams and lead fulfilling lives.

Equally important to me is fostering meaningful connections and relationships. I strongly believe in the power of community, collaboration, and compassion to create a more supportive and uplifting world. Building genuine connections with others, whether they’re family, friends, colleagues, or strangers, enriches our lives and strengthens our humanity.

Furthermore, I value love, authenticity, and community. Staying true to oneself, especially in difficult times, and approaching life with integrity, transparency, and courage are principles I live by. It’s through these values that we can overcome challenges, develop resilience, and make a positive impact on our surroundings.

Ultimately, what matters most to me is leaving a legacy of kindness, compassion, love, and empowerment. I hope to be remembered not just for my achievements, but for the lives I’ve touched, the hearts I’ve uplifted, and the positive change I’ve contributed to in the world.
