Community Highlights: Meet Dayla Amundson of LaLash By Day

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dayla Amundson

Dayla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Life is an extraordinary journey, one that intertwines the aspirations of our youth with the realities of adulthood. When reflecting on my life it became evident how the years of my youth, filled with dreams and ambitions, shaped the trajectory of my adult life. My life has had threads of striving, struggling, succeeding, and occasionally redirecting, of my goals.

In my youth I grew up in Richland, Washington. My parents were entrepreneurs, they own an Advertising Specialty business. One of my favorite activities growing up was dancing. I even danced down the grocery aisles when my mom was shopping. So, at the age of nine my parents enrolled me in dance classes. Dance became a big part of my life. In middle school I competed at the ESPN World Team Nationals in Florida. My unyielding desire to be a performer led me to audition for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader (DCC). I missed my high graduation to achieve this dream. Like so many other contestants my goal of becoming DCC ended abruptly. The one positive take away, from this experience was when the camera man came up to me and said, that I had guts and to not give up.
After this setback I trained harder, improving my dance skills and getting in better physical shape. My dedication paid off. At nineteen I became a Seattle Seahawks NFL Cheerleader. I was part of this sisterhood for two years. Entertaining, doing public relations, and volunteering in the community. I also got the opportunity to be in casted in two T.V. commercials as well as go to Hong Kong and perform in the Chinese New Year Parade.

Another dream of mine was to travel the world especially to warm climates. I thought it would be great to cruise around the world and be an entertainer. So, for the next two years I auditioned at open calls for Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival, and Princess. I concluded that most open calls positions still had talent agencies involved. I competed against incredible dancers from all over the world. After each audition I was not chosen, these failures created many moments of self-doubt. My final audition I was doing a flip and my foot slipped causing me to collapse to the floor. I later found out I tore my ACL so surgery was needed.

During these struggles I found my true strength and resilience. The struggles that I faced during this period forge my character, teaching me perseverance, adaptability, and at times hard work was not enough. It is through my struggles that I learn to navigate the complexities of life and realize that I had to redirect my career and goals.

I reassessed my goals and realized one aspect of dance that I loved was getting performance ready which entailed my makeup, hairdo, and other esthetician services. This passion for the beauty industry embraced a new goal of becoming an aesthetician. Immediately I enrolled in Avalon Institute Phoenix and LivBay Lash to get my license. I moved to Phoenix because I wanted to live where there is plenty of sun, palm trees, swimming pools and lots of spas/salons.

After graduating from Avalon Institute, I went to work at a medical spa in the Biltmore area. In 2023 I got married at SoHo63 in Chandler to my amazing husband Zach. Zach works for the Suns as the manager of Pro Scouting.

My professional journey over the past few years has had an array of enriching experiences. I honed my skills and developed a deep knowledge of the industry. It allowed me to gain invaluable experience, which provided the foundation to launch my business LaLash By Day.

Through my work, I aim to empower my clients, helping them feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. It is this that drives my passion for my work. My experience collaborating with clients has taught me the importance of understanding and addressing their individual needs. At LaLash By Day, I am dedicated to continuous learning and improvement, ensuring that I stay at the forefront of industry trends and techniques. My clients’ satisfaction and well-being are my top priorities, and I am committed to providing them with the highest quality of service.

In summary, my life has been a continuous cycle of striving, struggling, succeeding, and occasionally redirecting. Each phase has left an indelible mark, shaping the person I have become. The dreams of my youth have been the guiding stars, illuminating the path and reminding me that no matter the challenges, the pursuit of one’s dream is a journey worth undertaking.
