Community Highlights: Meet Danielle Payne of Payne Equipment Sales

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Payne.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From Humble Beginnings to Remarkable Growth: The Payne Equipment Sales Story

Payne Equipment Sales was born out of a leap of faith. In 2021, my husband Jayson and I started the business from our home. At the time, Jayson was working in a related industry, and I was employed at a university. Leaving the stability of our careers to build something of our own was a big risk—but it was one we believed in wholeheartedly.

We started small, one piece of equipment at a time, pouring everything we had into making this business work. Ironically, it was a challenge from our HOA—not allowing equipment to be stored in our front yard—that pushed us to take the next big step. We made a few calls, secured our current location, and from there, the business began to grow in ways we never could have imagined.

One of the greatest blessings this journey has given us is the ability to put our family first. Owning our business has allowed us the flexibility to be present for the moments that matter most. It’s a gift we don’t take for granted.

Our past struggles—both personally and professionally—are what fuel our determination today. We’ve faced uncertainty, made tough decisions, and worked through sleepless nights. But those experiences gave us grit and a clear purpose. They shaped who we are and how we run our business.

Looking back, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. And while we’re proud of what we’ve built, we’re even more grateful for the people we’ve met, the lessons we’ve learned, and the opportunity to keep moving forward—together.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With every business startup, there are definitely struggles—and ours was no exception. The road to where we are today has been anything but smooth. There were days when we truly didn’t know if we were going to make it.

In our industry, sales can fluctuate depending on how the market is doing. When related industries slow down, there’s always the risk that our sales will follow. And with growth comes growing pains. As our company expanded, so did our expenses. Learning how to manage cash flow while scaling, and doing our best to invest in the right areas to encourage positive, long-term growth, has been one of the biggest learning experiences of our journey.

Even now, we’ll look back and say, “We probably could’ve handled that a little differently.” But through it all, by the grace of God, we keep going—growing, learning, and moving forward one experience at a time.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Payne Equipment Sales?
At Payne Equipment Sales, our goal has always been simple: to take the burden off our customers when it comes to buying and selling construction equipment. We understand how time-consuming and overwhelming the process can be—so we step in to make it easier.

We’re more than just a place that buys and sells equipment—we also operate as a broker. That means we work directly with companies and individuals to help them sell or source the right equipment, allowing them to stay focused on their work without the added stress.

Over time, we’ve expanded our services to better serve our customers’ needs. We now offer everything from personal and business financing to freight coordination and repair services. Thanks to the strong partnerships we’ve built with trusted individuals and providers, we’re able to offer these solutions as a convenience—all in one place.

Our inventory includes a wide range of used construction equipment, including rollers, skid steers, telehandlers, skip loaders, backhoes, and more. And if there’s something specific you’re looking for that we don’t currently have, we’re always more than willing to reach out and help locate it for you.

At the end of the day, we’re here to serve. We believe in doing business with integrity, and we’re proud to be a resource our customers can rely on.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Looking ahead, we’re excited about what the next 5 to 10 years hold for Payne Equipment Sales. One of our biggest goals is to continue expanding the range of services we offer to our clients.

We know that buying or selling equipment is just one part of the journey—maintaining it is just as important. That’s why we’re working toward offering more support in this area. By providing maintenance services, we can continue the relationship with our clients long after the sale is complete. It’s a win-win for everyone involved: our clients get dependable service from a team they already trust, and we get the opportunity to keep supporting the people who helped build our business in the first place.

For us, it’s not just about growth—it’s about meaningful, long-term connections. We’re looking forward to building on what we’ve started and finding new ways to serve our customers even better in the years to come.
