Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Fox.
Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Finding yoga 18 years ago was the greatest gift and has led me to sharing the practice with students all across The Valley. The practice has completely transformed my life on and off the mat. Growing up as a competitive gymnast, movement was always medicine to me. It wasn’t until I found my yoga practice, that I began to notice not only the physical benefits of stretching and moving, but the powerful mental benefits of breath work and meditation. As someone who has struggled with anxiety my entire life, yoga became a tool for managing stress, creating clarity, and an overall balanced and vibrant lifestyle. With a background in Marketing and PR, I took a major leap of faith in 2015 to chase my dreams as a yoga teacher. I knew it was my life’s purpose to share the benefits of yoga with others. I left my corporate job and became 200 hour certified to teach yoga. I dove in to a manager position at Modern Yoga in Scottsdale and surrounded myself with the best teachers in the state. I worked seven days a week, started subbing classes wherever needed and immersed myself in as many trainings as possible. After 10 years of dedication, I have completed my 500 hour advanced yoga teacher training, studied with master Ashtanga teachers from all over the world, and created my own yoga business. It is my absolute joy to be teaching full time now between studio classes, private events and clients, rooftop yoga events, for You Aligned online classes and even at the Diamondback’s Stadium to 1,000 yogis. Yoga has humbled me, strengthened my relationship with myself, and continues to teach me that all we have is one breath at a time!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In growing any business, there are always struggles or growing pains. It’s no secret that yoga teachers don’t make a fortune right off the bat. When I started out, I rented a room out of my friend’s house so I could afford to continue on this path. Until this past year, I have always had a side gig (or 2) in order to make end’s meet. I had to get very creative with how to increase income and learned a ton along the way about the business of yoga. Now, I teach at two different studios, in five teacher training programs, large community events, private group parties, international retreats, have the best weekly clients, and so on. I say all this to say, it took years of building relationships, my reputation and knowledge of yoga, and a whole lot of trust in the process. My husband and fellow entrepreneur/owner of The Wildfire Co. Food Truck has been my biggest support system and cheerleader along the way. I will say, I never once doubted my purpose and am constantly reminded of why I started.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Courtney Fox Yoga ?
With a playful and inspiring teaching style, I aim to introduce beginners to yoga in a feel-good way, helping them establish a practice that extends beyond the mat into their daily lives. My classes blend mindful movements, breath work, and insightful alignment cues, creating a balanced experience of effort and surrender. Yoga means “unity” and it is my passion to bring the community together through teaching events at Salt River Fields, CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa, the Valley’s most famous rooftops, and wellness festivals. It is important to me that all levels of practitioners feel that they can participate, because yoga is for everybody!
Quitting my corporate job in 2015 to pursue wellness full time has allowed me to uniquely blend my business experience with my passion for movement, growing my yoga business state wide in a few years.
Introducing beginners to yoga and working one on one with clients to deepen their practice physically, mentally and spiritually is my life’s purpose.
How do you define success?
Defining success is a deeply personal process. To me, success is what brings me a sense of fulfillment, service to others, immense joy, and alignment with my values.
