Community Highlights: Meet Ashley Faust of Edenwood Home, LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to  Ashley Faust.

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Edenwood Home was originally just me completing projects in my own home. I taught myself the skills through researching methods and online tutorials. I started with smaller projects one at a time and worked through a lot of trial and error. This was mainly for my own personal fulfillment. I really enjoyed it so I did more and more. While renting through college and the beginning of my adult life I spent a great deal of time planning out my dream home because I have a passion for design and architecture. In moved into a beautiful new home and I wanted to make it fit for my family and I. I really enjoyed the work so I opened an Etsy Shop in 2019 and did custom shelving. My family and I were in a difficult financial situation and this was able to help supplement our income. In February of 2020, my brother, Jarrod, unexpectedly passed away. Shortly after his passing, I closed my Etsy Shop. Jarrod was an incredible, kind, and hard-working young man. He served as a big inspiration for me and my whole family. We have all tried to continue to better ourselves to make him proud, and after he passed away I needed to do something for myself to start healing in whatever way I could. This was really when Edenwood Home started to grow. I started sharing my projects on social media and doing bigger home projects, mostly trim work, for neighbors and friends. This was all taking place during the global pandemic and my family and I were under continued financial strain, like so many others. Edenwood really took off and this allowed me to support my children.
After being a stay-at-home mom for several years I really never dreamed that I could have a successful career, let alone a successful company. I am incredibly grateful to all my clients who trusted me with their homes and then continued to refer me to their networks. I would not be at this point without them.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The short answer is…absolutely not. I have faced and continue to face a lot of struggles both professionally and personally. I had no formal training in running a growing business. I had to take the initiative and teach myself skills that were very difficult to learn. I still invest in myself to improve my carpentry and business skills. I will always continue to work to make my company something I am very proud of. I am a young woman in a very male dominated industry so it was difficult to be taken seriously. However, as more people saw my work and more people trusted me, I was able to become a part of a close-knit network. My business grew quickly, during the pandemic, and it was difficult to find the balance of being a business owner and a mother of two kids who were at home. On top of all these struggles, that most business owners probably face, I also had such a profound loss in my family. It took a great deal of strength to continue to persevere through all off this and continue to successfully grow, push through the bad experiences, and truly want to move forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Edenwood Home, LLC.?
I specialize in custom and semi-custom finish carpentry work. This includes a very wide range of services from basic trims to geometric feature walls, and built-ins to complete kitchen cabinetry. I really got my start in making track homes with basic packages feel more custom with finishing work. This can truly make such a huge difference in someone’s home. I feel the biggest things that set me apart are my eye for detail and design and my brand integrity. My name is attached to my brand so I have a great deal of pride in what I do. Each item I would be happy to put in my own home. Everything has a personal touch and everything is designed with both beauty and functionality in mind. It is always my goal to make a family’s home the most it can be for them. I do my best to keep their best interest and biggest needs at heart. I want to make the home serve the family better.

I am always looking to work with new people, continue to learn new skills, and take on new projects. If you would like to have a consultation please reach out!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The best thing I have learned through this journey with my business is grit and perseverance. This mindset of seeing problems as just constraints to be solved instead of road blocks has been so important to develop and has benefitted every area of my life. I have had so many really difficult experiences along the way and just changing my perspective and viewing those experiences as events that are building me into someone better and making my company evolve and become stronger is really valuable. Getting up and giving it your best day after day, even when your best looks different from one day to the next, is a life skill that I will take with me far beyond the life of my business.
