Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Wicked Clean 3 years ago while working full-time as a Project Manager in commercial construction. I had always dreamed of owning my own business, and cleaning services felt like the perfect opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up.
In the beginning, it was just my sister and I handling a few residential clients on evenings and weekends. I focused obsessively on quality and building genuine relationships with each customer. Word started to spread, and soon I was hiring my first employees to help meet the growing demand.
The journey wasn’t always smooth – balancing a demanding career while nurturing a growing business meant many late nights and early mornings. But seeing the positive client feedback and the opportunity to create jobs in my community made every challenge worthwhile.
As our reputation for thoroughness and reliability grew stronger, so did our client base. We expanded from residential cleaning to include commercial properties, which allowed us to scale more effectively.
The business reached a critical turning point in October 2024 when I made the decision to leave my construction career and dedicate myself fully to Wicked Clean. It was both terrifying and exhilarating, but I knew it was the right time to go all-in on my entrepreneurial vision.
Since then, we’ve accelerated our growth while maintaining the quality and personal touch that got us here. Today, Wicked Clean has evolved from a side hustle to a thriving local business with an amazing team of dedicated professionals who share my passion for exceptional service.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road! Building Wicked Clean has come with its fair share of challenges.
In the early days, the biggest struggle was time management. Balancing my demanding full-time construction job with a growing cleaning business meant sacrificing sleep, social life, and any semblance of downtime. There were weeks where I felt completely exhausted trying to be everywhere at once.
Finding reliable employees was another significant hurdle. The cleaning industry traditionally has high turnover, and I experienced this firsthand with several early hires who didn’t share my standards for quality and professionalism. I quickly realized that paying above market rates and creating a positive work environment was essential for attracting and keeping good people.
Cash flow management presented constant challenges, especially when investing in better equipment and supplies while still keeping enough reserves for payroll and unexpected expenses. There were definitely some tight months where I questioned if I was making the right decision.
The decision to leave my stable career was perhaps the scariest moment – walking away from a reliable paycheck to bet everything on Wicked Clean. The months following that decision were filled with doubt and financial stress until we reached a sustainable momentum.
Through all these challenges, I’ve learned that persistence and problem-solving are the entrepreneur’s most valuable skills. Each obstacle has ultimately made both the business and my leadership stronger.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory takes me back to our off-grid home in the remote wilderness of Northern Idaho. Our small home was surrounded by towering pines and endless snow during the winter months, our days measured by natural rhythms rather than electric conveniences.
One frigid winter night, my father burst through the door with unusual excitement. “Everyone outside, now!” We scrambled to layer up before tumbling out the door.
The night sky had transformed into something magical. Ribbons of green light danced across the heavens, pulsing and shifting like celestial breath. Streaks of pink and purple occasionally rippled through the dominant emerald waves against the backdrop of pure darkness that only exists far from city lights.
Without speaking, we grabbed our sleds and trudged up to the top of our sledding hill. As I raced down, cold air stinging my cheeks, the northern lights seemed to follow my movement, creating the extraordinary sensation of sledding through the aurora itself. The green glow reflected off the snow, casting our familiar landscape in alien light.
