Community Highlights: Meet Alison Furno of The Volleyball Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Furno.

Hi Alison, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got started coaching volleyball when I was 16 to help pay for my club fees. I knew I loved it and I wanted to keep coaching. Within a few years I was head coaching my own team. I continued to gain experience and build a program within the club I coached at. 12 years later I started my own volleyball business called “the volleyball company” geared towards helping volleyball players improve their fitness and mindset on the court to help these athletes become high performers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had many struggles. As a leader people will always criticize you, make fun of you and doubt you. The more you learn to tune it out and stay focused on who you want to help, the stronger you get. You can’t be afraid of making mistakes. That use to paralyze me. Now I know and can confidently say winners and champions are at the top because they are standing on the piles of their mistakes, failures and missteps.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The volleyball company was founded in 2023 with the goal of creating strong confident volleyball athletes. We are known for teaching the fundamentals of volleyball, growth mindset, and coaching girls into being their most confident selves. Our main program we do this through is called “Jump Juice” this is our signature jump training program to help increase your confidence and vertical on the court with plyometrics, resistance, and body weight training off the court along with mindset training calls. We also are branching out into building a merchandise store and adding more programs for the girls. We also do in person clinics and trainings all around Arizona. It is truly amazing to see how well athletes respond to a positive encouraging environment and how much that impacts their performance on the volleyball court. We are so grateful and inspired by all the athletes we get to train.
