Hi Adele, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Adele, and I am the owner & main photographer of E.M.C. Photography Studio. We are based out of Yuma, Arizona; however, this business can take you to some amazing places when you least expect it. My customer base is Weddings and Model Styled Photography. I love what I do. I have fun every time I’m behind the camera. My story starts with a 35mm camera and a grandfather’s love for photography. My grandfather & mother both loved photography. I am so proud knowing I came from a line of photographers. Are we professionals? No. Are we great at photography? Absolutely. I was lucky enough to be trusted with several of their cameras at a young age.

In 2011 (after years of borrowing cameras & sometimes film), I purchased my first ‘digital’ camera, an E.O.S. Rebel T3. This camera was my entire life. It’s because of this camera people started to take notice. People started hiring me. People started paying me. I couldn’t believe it. (It’s still a great feeling knowing that even today, the photos I took with that little Rebel T3 are still on someone’s wall as memories). Later that year, I held a contest for a business name, and E.M.C. (Every Moment Counts) Photography Studio was born. In 2014 I quit my 8-5 and started a full-time business and have been in business ever since. So, if you want someone with experience to take your photos, you can say I have some of that going on. haha

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
I started my business from nothing in a little town in southern California and turned it into a Full-Time career within 6 months. Was it easy? HA! Nope. People talk about putting their sweat & tears into their business. Well, I added my humility. I woke up one day in 2014 and quit my 8-5, knowing full well that I was a full-time university student and a single mother. Oh! And broke. Did I mention I had $22.00 in my account? So no, it was not easy. Honestly, I don’t believe any business is easy. That was my biggest challenge. I knew I had to make it successful no matter what. I needed to take this ‘hobby’ and turn it into something, anything that would pay my bills and keep a roof over my child’s head. And I did. I worked so hard to get where I am today. What I want the world to know about me and my business is; My business is 100% self-made. I have never taken a loan, am licensed, and even pay my taxes. I do everything by the book, and I am happy to say here & now that I am damn proud of myself. So, if you want to start a photography business, maybe don’t use my technique. Maybe have a couple of business plans in mind first, you know?

My name is Adele, and I am the owner & Main Photographer. I specialize in Wedding and Model Style Photography. I started this business from nothing because I love photography. I feel what sets me apart from the others is experienced & love. I enjoy making something so beautiful that it puts a smile on someone’s face or tears in their eyes. It is the best feeling knowing you have made something that will last for generations after you are gone. I have to say I am most proud of the business I have created. Hobby-type businesses rarely make it to a full-time career. I was just one of the stubborn ones that couldn’t fail. What I would want readers to know about my brand is we are family-owned & family-inspired. We are dedicated to our customers; We are reliable & affordable. I made a promise to myself back in 2011.

I will not break wallets. And I never have. I have remained under the radar, but the gem you wish you had found earlier. I have over 10 years of experience in 35mm and over 10 years of experience with digital photography. I put my entire heart into my photos. Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check?
Oh gosh, what a question. Apps are my go-to for entertainment & communication. Facebook, Instagram, Snap, TikTok & a little dabble in Pinterest. I am a reader. Most days, you will see me driving to customers or destinations, listening to a history book on Audible. I enjoy series books such as Out of Time by Monique Martin (which I am currently reading/listening to). My podcast tool varies, but currently, I am listening to Distractable (nerd. yeah, I’m aware, lol). One resource that helps my life and works is PayPal, Venmo, Square & Cashapp. (yes, I have them all)
