Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Wiegand.
Hi Aaron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m one of the few AZ natives, having lived in Phoenix, Flagstaff, and Tucson, where I went to the University of Arizona. After receiving my chiropractic degree 17 years ago, I started my chiropractic practice where I practiced like most chiropractors, treating neck and back pain with adjustments and other therapies. But upon suffering a debilitating disc herniation in my low back, I sought care from a physical therapist who performed Dry Needling. The relief was instantaneous and allowed me to return to work. I spent the next 5 years studying Dry Needling and performing it on thousands of patients, creating a unique combination of chiropractic, dry needling, and rehab therapy, which allowed me to treat many more conditions than I had before with much more effectiveness. During COVID, I developed the first Chiropractic Dry Needling program where I began teaching chiropractors in Arizona and Texas how to perform the technique. Today, in addition to my duties as the Chiropractic Director for a multidisciplinary pain clinic, I continue to teach and publish on the topic. This unique approach has also given me the opportunity to consult doctors in Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff on how to integrate my approach to patient care for people who suffer injuries from car accidents.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The day I opened my first practice, we had just entered the Great Recession. COVID was a unique challenge for any business owner. Physical injuries had made it difficult to practice due to the demands chiropractors have on their bodies adjusting patients. Dry Needling made treating patients far lest physically taxing, and by diversifying my skills outside of treating patients, I have been able to touch far more lives by helping other doctors help people suffering from pain to find relief.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
ChiroNeedle is an education company dedicated to putting the knowledge of Dry Needling and Rehab techniques in the hands of doctors so they can become more effective at helping their patients find a drugless solution to pain. We are the only company which has designed Dry Needling education in a way that is tailored to chiropractic practice where it can be integrated with the adjustments and other therapies, you’d expect from a chiropractic visit. The thing I’m most proud of in regards to our brand is two things: One, is that we’ve created a teaching setting that’s personal and engaging. The doctors who take our program feel like they’re part of a community and regularly tell me how much they enjoy the camaraderie of working together in a hands-on experience. The second is that we promote a patient-centered approach to care, where people are treated based on their specific needs, goals, and values.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When it comes to a mentor, you should always find someone whose passion resonates with your own. They should be as excited about imparting their wisdom as you are to use it to make the lives of those you touch that much better. When you’re authentic and in your purpose, you will naturally attract those around you who help you grow with synergy. Always be looking for ways that you can do something to expand their influence, and by remaining at the center of those connections, it is inevitable that they will find a way to do the same for you.
