Today we’d like to introduce you to The Wedding Gals.
The Wedding Gals, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
The Wedding Gals are a duo consisting of musicians Kim Weston, vocalist & violinist, and Adrienne Knauer, harpist. Kim and Adrienne met in 2017 and instantly clicked over their love of all genres of music – everything from the Eagles to Eva Cassidy. Adrienne is a professionally trained classical harpist having played in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world such as Carnegie Hall, Heinz Hall, the John F Kennedy Center, and the Kimmel Center. Kim has been singing and playing violin for over 20 years but her real passion lies in writing (and performing) her own music. She can be found performing throughout the Valley in venues such as The Nash, Center Stage, Clarendon Rooftop, and Hermosa Inn. The Wedding Gals recently started collaborating with Jason Pataska, percussionist, and are available for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hour, and dinner receptions throughout the Valley.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We like to say we create “live music for lasting memories.” We specialize in intimate wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours where live music really enhances the ambiance.
We love what we do and believe that translates through our performance. We strive for the highest level of professionalism and almost have an intuitiveness when it comes to ceremonies and cocktail hours. That means if the flower girl stalls for a few extra minutes or the bride is late, we can read the scenario and make smooth transitions so the ceremony and cocktail hour are seamless. We hope (and believe) that the music can make or break the wedding day and we strive to make ours memorable.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The biggest challenge facing artists has been around for decades – making a living from their craft. Especially if you’re facing a lot of competitors. Adrienne & Kim try to set apart their services by offering a duo that is completely unique in Phoenix – pop and rock performed on voice and harp.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
We frequently perform at restaurants and bars throughout Phoenix including The Clarendon Hotel Rooftop, Sip Coffee & Beer Garage, and Garage East in Gilbert. We post our performance announcements on Instagram and Facebook and have recently started sending our announcements to our e-mail list. Send us an e-mail and we’ll add you to it!
