Today we’d like to introduce you to Uziel Hernandez.
Uziel, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Art has always followed me throughout my life. Either it is in music or visual arts, art has taught me so much about life. I started my journey with photography when I received my first iPhone at the age of eighteen. Public transportation was my go-to when attending high school and I always had the time to take pictures along the way. Every day I took pictures of things that were beautiful to my eyes and I realized that I could keep these images forever, they were my treasure of happiness. My passion for photography grew over the years and it caught my older brothers attention. On my graduation night, my brother gifted me my first camera and my passion for photography took off from that day on.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
When looking for something to shoot, I usually look for something that catches my eye and makes me stop. I always use natural light or city lights for a night shoot. Most of my images are white and black. Natural light in a black and white image makes most images more dramatic. Sometimes it is challenging only to shoot in black and white. I believe color can bring so much life into an image and sometimes black and white hides many things in a photograph. I love to challenge myself when it comes to photography and black and white images do that for me. My artwork explores many different subjects in the photography world. Street photography, nature, landscapes, portraits, and architecture are all part of what I have explored with my camera. My photography levitates towards Fine Art Photography. I believe photography makes me an artist because photography is an art. When people see my photographs, I hope they see a story or see something they usually wouldn’t look at. My photography is my appreciation towards the beautiful world we live in, and I hope many people acknowledge things that are not appreciated as often.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Art is never wrong and never ever doubt yourself. Learn to love your failures and learn from them. Art is beautiful and if it makes you happy, go for it!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
All of my photographs are on Instagram. If you’d like to follow me on my journey with photography, please do so. I learn so much with different content I see so a follow back will always be gifted. In the near future, I plan to sell some prints of my photographs. Also, a website will be coming soon. A follow is all I need for support of my artwork and I hope my fellow followers stay tuned to what I see next.
