Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Sonoqui.

Tanya, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I love to tell stories through art, and photography is one of the finest and most rewarding art forms to be a part of. By day, I am a medical laboratory technician and services manager at a federally funded community health center. As much as I love being part of integrated health care, my passion lies in the people and nature around me. I feel that I can do a better job serving the community by sharing their lives, loves and stories through images. It’s the best contribution I could ever do and what makes me the happiest and most complete I could be. I have a great eye for seeing the best in people so now, I’ve started a business that puts that talent to good use! SnappyGeek came to fruition a couple years ago. It’s a small and local business that has grown, almost completely, by word of mouth and I’m so glad it’s a part of my life.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
For my clients, I do portraits, families, weddings, head shots, events of all sizes. I have a soft spot for charity events that raise awareness for causes like Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Women’s rights, and LGBT issues.
For my own pleasure, and, on occasion, businesses, I love landscapes, animals and nature in all its glory.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
If I can convey one thing to anyone struggling, it’s please do not give up on yourself. Believe in yourself even when facing rejection, self-doubt, ridicule, or bullying. You have skills and passion and heart and you will get to where you want to go if you live your truth and walk your own path.
