Hi Tyea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Tyea, and I am originally from Tucson, Arizona. I have since relocated to Phoenix, where I have found a community and environment that better align with my personal life and professional goals.

After experiencing two layoffs from the same employer during the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the strategic decision to pursue entrepreneurship and founded Elite Medical Massage on March 1, 2022. Motivated by a desire for financial independence and supported by valuable feedback from colleagues, I have shaped my practice around the guiding principle “Move Better and Feel Better,” which defines both my mission as a massage therapist and my approach as an entrepreneur.

My primary objective is to deliver effective therapeutic massage for clients experiencing acute and chronic pain, thereby reducing reliance on anti-inflammatory medications. I also prioritize client education regarding musculoskeletal imbalances, anatomy, and physiology, specifically as these concepts relate to daily activities and exercise regimens. By fostering healthier habits and improved physical function, I aim to enhance overall well-being. My commitment to professionalism and excellence in medical massage therapy is reflected in the consistent delivery of high-quality care and ongoing dedication to advancing the field.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Prior to establishing Elite Medical Massage, I developed a five-year success plan with clear benchmarks. By the third year, my goal was to maintain a consistent rotation of two hundred thirty clients. I set this standard as a measure of progress; should I fall short, I would reevaluate my strategy or consider a new direction. I am pleased to report that this milestone has been achieved, though it required overcoming significant challenges. The entrepreneurial journey demands persistence, and while the pursuit of success is seldom straightforward, it is ultimately rewarding.

As my business continues to grow, I have encountered what I refer to as “good problems.” Expansion has introduced valuable opportunities and challenges, such as implementing advanced marketing initiatives, securing a larger facility for increased staff and therapy services, and balancing direct patient care with personal well-being. These experiences have enhanced my skills as both a business owner and therapist, highlighting further growth prospects that I will pursue as the founder of Elite Medical Massage.

The guiding principle I bring to my business is “abundance.” With sixteen years of experience in the medical field—including eleven years specializing in massage therapy across Medical, Orthopedic, Sports, Lymphedema, and Pregnancy modalities—I am dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care. Elite Medical Massage sets itself apart by employing a targeted therapeutic approach that is integrated with healthcare practices, distinguishing it from traditional relaxation massage services. This profession demands advanced training, thorough documentation, a clinical setting, and an anatomy-focused methodology for developing treatment plans. What truly differentiates my practice is its capacity to assist clients during mental drawbacks physically and anatomy imbalance challenges, by supporting their journey towards optimal health and well-being. The opportunity to witness these transformative outcomes is profoundly rewarding.

Elite Medical Massage relies primarily on word-of-mouth referrals to sustain its support network. The collaborative approach is dedicated to encouraging abundance and building a strong referral system that facilitates effective connections with potential clients and fellow entrepreneurs in the communities.
