Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Ellington.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was a little girl, I looked up to anyone in a crown and wanted to be just like them. As I’ve gotten older, I realized that I still want to be like them but that now looks like being a role model for others, being a hard worker, and honing my communication skills.
As Miss Phoenix, I’ve been in a unique position to not only share my mission of Literacy for Life through exciting young readers, educating the community on the importance of literacy, and expanding the access to books and reading materials but also to be that role model for others.
I grew up on a farm in Indiana and have brought those lessons of hard work and perseverance with me to Arizona. It has helped me succeed in a competitive speech in the debate, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and in my career as a marketing professional.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Three main struggles come to mind.
1. When I was 14, I got a concussion that lasted for 12 months derailing my school and life. It made me evaluate my goals in life and strengthened my faith through it all. I’m very thankful for a full recovery which was not a guarantee.
2. Moving to Arizona was hard for me at first, however, that obstacle in Highschool has turned out to be one of my biggest blessings and I would not be who I am today without my experiences in Arizona.
3. I graduated from college in 2020 and was still able to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 and was the only person in my class to receive the Moeur Award.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I spend a lot of my time working with a washing machine start-up called Lightning Clean which has engineered the fastest washing machine ever that can wash in 10 minutes and dry in 20 minutes.
I am the Senior Marketing Manager there and have guided branding and content from the beginning.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There have been a lot of people who I owe my success to. I am very blessed to be surrounded by people that make me better.
