Check Out Tango Quinn’s Story

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tango Quinn.

Tango Quinn

Hi Tango, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I was always a writer. Poems and rhyme schemes always came very naturally to me, which translated into some very silly songs as a young kid. When I started my freshman year of high school, I met my first love, who happened to be in a band.

He was incredibly talented, and when he wasn’t making music for himself and his band, he was making beats on Garage Band and recording goofy rap songs. Maybe two months into our relationship, when I saw him creating music all the time, I started doing the same. Downloaded garage band, started making beats, talking to everyone else I knew that was making music and next thing I knew I had made four songs in a week (which I still have by the way).

At 14 years old, this still blows my mind. I showed them to everyone I knew, started networking, wrote music all day, made beats on my phone in class, and filled notebook after notebook with songs that will probably never see the light of day. One thing led to another: I created my first 6 track EP and released it on SoundCloud during my sophomore year of high school in 2017.

I continued making and releasing music on Soundcloud like it was my job, eventually starting to release it on all platforms in 2019 and performing live. Now, five years later, music and performing are still my absolute greatest passion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had my fair share of struggles along the way, but music has always been my solace in all my obstacles.

Aside from one underage, drunken performance and some hateful people along the way, I’ve felt very supported by my community, Even as my circle has evolved and my goals with music did too.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an independent singer/songwriter and performer, and I am proud to have never shied away from my dreams. I am proud to be a loud, queer voice for other people in my community and to give people solace, catharsis, and safety from the music that I create while making it.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
I have learned that community and social connections are much more important than I once thought.

That our strength together is far more powerful.
