Check Out Sherry Goldberg’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Goldberg.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a child, I wanted to become an actress. I went to NYU, and I was a Theater Major. Upon graduation, I became an actress and then I became a writer and wrote my first book, “The Millennium Challenge,” which became a best seller. Wanting to do something colorful, I became an artist, and I began doing the advertising for an Arizona law firm. Throughout the course of my life, I collected more than 20,000 pieces of music. About eight years ago, I started an internet radio station called Movies, Broadway, Singers, and Beyond. To me, art and music are married. To date, I’ve completed over 500 pieces of art while listening to this music.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t know anyone who has had a smooth road. The reason I became a writer is because most of my auditions as an actress in Arizona were in Tucson, which was more than two hours away. I thought that as a writer, I would have more freedom to control my time, especially after I became a mother. As an older person, I have seen how weathering the storms and learning about human nature can make you stronger.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I believe that I’m one of the few glitter artists in the world. I call it mixed media because I use glitter, glue, paint, vintage jewelry, and other items to create a piece. I also paint ceramics, and some as tall as five feet. When you do glitter art, you have to stand the whole time you are working, and when I needed to sit down, I was able to paint the ceramics, which led me to specializing in both media. I love working on both equally and sharing my creations with the public. When it comes to what I’m most proud of, I would say my radio station because I play people like George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Larry Hart, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald, and thousands more. This music influenced my art because I listened to these artists while working. Even some of my pieces are named after songs and singers.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Something I always told my daughter, who’s a photographer and writer, “It’s wonderful to have goals, but always remember to enjoy the journey.”
