Check Out Shelby Braziel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Braziel.

Hi Shelby, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have had a love for baking and cooking for as long as I can remember. I feel very creative just being in the kitchen. I would look, and still do, for reasons to have get-togethers to cook or find someone to bake something for just because I could!

I never considered branching out into the public or social media with it until I took a long break from working and decided to just put it out there. And I am so glad I did! I stay busy regularly in my home baking business and I am always putting new content out on socials for my not-so-local friends. Connecting with so many different people has been so fun! You just have to do it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not even close! As much as you want things to turn out perfect and make everyone happy, you just can’t! Everything is trial and error. But that’s how you learn! Just stay consistent.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a regular full-time employee in a dermatology clinic! Most people don’t know that. I do love it, but my passion is baking, and I’m literally doing that in my free time, after work, and on weekends.

I specialize in BIG cookies! Like half-pound cookies. I’m not even so sure I know how to make a normal-sized cookie anymore lol! People know me for this, mostly. I’m most proud of myself for putting myself out there, and so far, getting great feedback. I am a one-woman show. I do the shopping, baking, cleaning, photography, blogging, content creation, recipe testing, posting, editing, planning events, and getting the goods to customers. It’s a lot, but I love it. I also couldn’t do it without the help of my husband. He’s my right-hand man and drops everything when I need him.

I set myself apart by being personable, approachable, and flexible. It’s hard to get things ordered last minute from bigger places, but I do my very best to get you what you need when you need it!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t think I can chalk anything up to luck. The reward comes from hard work and consistency.

You never stop working in your own business. There is always something to be done, both day and night. Sometimes I feel defeated, but that’s when I know I need to take a break and step back, reevaluate, and get back to a regular flow.
