Check Out Saap Saap Thaiger’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saap Saap Thaiger. Them and their team share their story with us below:

It started with a mutual love of food, the learning of culture, and the motivation to make people smile. John of Saap Saap Thaiger is from a Thai and Laos background and growing up he loved the food and the culture that represented his roots. Brittany is from a Filipino background and grew up around food and a passion for cooking, learning everything from her family, and traveling. When John and Brittany met they always wanted to start a food business but didn’t know where to start. John being from an Asian culture always brought Brittany to the Lao and Thai temples and she was amazed at the vendors selling authentic food and snacks thus a spark ignited. As time went by we started to sell food at the Thai and Lao temples and wanted to reach out and share our food with more people. In the winter of 2021, we went to the Hawker street market and were in awe of what culture an event can bring to educate masses of people about different Asian cultures and foods.

At the conclusion of the event, we ended up at a Pho restaurant and started, as a family what would be Saap Saap Thaiger. We brainstormed the name of our business in the car ride that night following dinner and wanted something cute and fun that would allow us to tell a story. A little bit behind our logo and name, Tigers represent strength, courage, and ambition. While Saap translates in Thai and Laotian to “very good” or “delicious” it is a word used often as a compliment to the chef for the quality of the food. Currently day, we have created a modern Asian street food business fusing together Thai and Lao food that displays the beauty and fierce flavors of our eastern roots. We still serve at our local Thai and Laos temple and continue to expand into night markets, Asian events, farmers’ markets, and more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for us. It’s been really hard to figure everything out like how to establish an LLC, how to secure funding for our business, how to do business taxes, and how much food to prep for each event.

We are constantly learning and evolving. We are fortunate for the connections we have made along the way of starting our journey and the other local vendors, whom are also supportive as they’ve experienced the same or similar struggles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Brittany works within marketing and assists with managing a variety of accounts nationwide. She is skilled in digital marketing and understands the importance of a strong social presence.

John is a property manager and has a background working in the restaurant business and bartending. Understanding the stress of working in a fast pace environment and managing customer relations.

Combining our current and past work experiences, we believe it adds value to our business.

However, what makes Saap Saap Thaiger truly stand apart from others is the love and dedication we put into each of our dishes. We don’t believe in cutting corners and absolutely everything is done with such a vast amount of detail. We want to transport each of our customers as if they were eating street food in the markets of Bangkok or Laos.

All of our skewers are hand cut and our herbs for the marinade are smashed in a Thai/Lao mortar and pestle called a khrok. We believe it’s important to make our food just as we would for our family at home. The prep is very labor intensive for our food but this is what sets Saap Saap Thaiger apart as we focus on bringing the heart of Thai and Laotian cuisine to everyone we serve so they can experience the beauty of our culture and community.

Also we put an emphasis on community. Our team is so grateful to see faces of returning customers and we truly consider everyone we encounter as new friends. It brings us an immense amount of joy when we see people repost our food on social media or bring back there stamp card. Saap Saap Thaiger is happy to bring Thai and Laotian food to more people and truly grow our community through food.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Consistency has been really important to our success. Staying diligent in what we do allows us to grow and become better in everything we do

Staying consistent creates routines for us to follow and work hard and is what keeps the quality of our food excellent.

Love is another big factor in everything we do, we put love in our food, love into all of our events, and most importantly we show our love to our customers.
