Check Out Ruth Price’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Price

Hi Ruth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For over twenty years, Ruth has been a real estate professional providing concierge-style real estate services for people who love special homes. Her goal is to create elevated experiences, and assist design-minded individuals, architecture lovers, and lifestyle-driven buyers and sellers.

In 2024, Ruth founded Desert Design Week, a twice yearly celebration of design, art, and architecture designed to showcase creativity and promote innovative design. Through a series of edited events, such as gallery pop-ups, architecture and design exhibitions, open studios, and immersive experiences, attendees connect, collaborate and build community through a shared appreciation of design.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Following my passion has been a journey of discovery. I have long known I wanted to create events to help raise the visibility of talented artists and designers, but I wasn’t sure exactly what form that would take. I started with small events, and as I saw the need and desire, things scaled quickly. At our first Desert Design Week in October 2024, we had over 800 attendees participate in eight events held throughout Phoenix and Scottsdale. I must admit, I learned a lot along the way. Our Spring 2025 Desert Design Week is going to be even bigger, offering design-minded individuals even more opportunities to indulge their love of art and architecture while connecting with others who share their passion. I am learning as we go, leaning in to things that work, and changing course when needed. Desert Design Week is a labor of love, and I’m excited to see where this road takes us.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve long appreciated great art, architecture, and design. Through my career in real estate, I’ve been able to connect with many like-minded individuals and help them buy or sell homes with great design. When I saw how many talented artists needed support in raising awareness for their work, and I saw people who wanted to experience and enjoy great art but didn’t know where to look, I knew there was an opportunity to create events that not only helped put the spotlight on great art and design, but created opportunities for natural connections between like-minded individuals. When I moved to Arizona, I saw that nothing like this existed. The feedback I’ve gotten about Desert Design Week has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m told that nothing like this has existed in the design community, and individuals and businesses are now coming to me to tell me they want to be a part of it. I’m proud that we are creating something enduring that enhances our community.

I’m looking forward to growing future Desert Design Week events by fostering collaboration and inviting independent organizers to host their own events under the celebration’s umbrella. This could include private home tours, hosted dinners, cocktail parties or brunches in architecturally significant homes, pop-up art or photography exhibitions, and design-focused workshops.

I invite anyone interested in learning more to visit desertdesignweek.com to sign up for updates.
