Check Out Quincy Jackson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Jackson.

Hi Quincy, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started making music when I felt like an outsider. Regardless of who I had around me I always felt like I was different. I had many influences within my family that made me start rapping. I started out singing, but I had family that encouraged me to rap instead and I ended getting really good at it. My whole family does music so I knew I was supposed to be a rapper. I wanted to rap to give better opportunities for my family and myself!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I didn’t grow up the best, I was raised by my grandparents as a kid, so they didn’t know how to guide me in the right way as a young African American. I didn’t have my mother or father around, so my uncle had to take that position in a way. I went through depression which molded me to love myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I rap now, I consider myself an artist, but others label me as a rapper. I’m known for my work ethic and creativity. Many see my style and it immediately gets the attention. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown as an artist I was never confident in myself but I’m at a point where nothing can slow me down! My voice and mind set me apart from many people. I create my own waves while others that want to do what I do ride other’s waves. My voice and style in general set me apart from the next.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve risked losing everything I had going for this career. I lost many friends and family members doin what I’ve done. I feel everyone should take risks in their lives that will benefit them in the future! If you’re not taking risks then why are you wasting time? Life is too short not to take them.
