Check Out Paige June’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige June.

Hi Paige, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ever since I could talk, I have been singing and writing songs. When I was eleven I picked up my first acoustic guitar; the rest being history. I took lessons from a family friend down the street to learn the basics and soon my love for guitar was born. I combined my love for singing and writing with my new-found love for playing guitar, going on to learn many covers and write over 70 original songs.

Next, I entered the world of performing. When I was thirteen, I booked my first ever gig at a local coffee shop and bakery in my hometown Surprise, Arizona; called Sugar and Spice. Gigging became my new lifestyle after that, and over the next few years I went on to play bigger venues all around the valley, including The Rebel Lounge, a venue that kick-started my future in the performing industry and furthered my career and love for playing on stage.

Now, I am a local musician to Flagstaff, spending my time traveling around town on weekends to perform and sing!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been very fortunate in how smooth the road of creating music and performing has been for me, however I think the hardest part about being an artist in this day and age is social media exposure and being able to get behind the right self-marking in order to promote your music online. The online music platform takes away a lot from the creativity process that goes into making a song and can sometimes feel daunting when you are forced to create yourself to fit into a box in order to execute a brand to grow your fan base. It is less authentic than the music experience used to be and can often feel demeaning when you want to focus on just being you and making music that doesn’t fit into a specific genre or brand. I think for me, just finding my space between the area of creating my music and social media has been my hardest struggle so far.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a musician of course but I would say I specialize most in writing songs. I think what best explains me as an artist is that I am a songwriter first and a singer/guitarist second. Writing is very therapeutic for me and I love being able to apply that when I am creating music. However, I would say that I’m most known for preforming. When I get up on stage I am transformed into a performer and I always go all out for my shows. I love creating a show that people can enjoy watching and being able to put on a great performance-that’s even fun for me to execute-is always the end goal when going up on stage! Currently, I am most proud of my newest single release; ‘You Were Hers.’ It is the latest project I just finished working on and is out on all streaming platforms now!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think staying true to your craft and constantly allowing your creativity to change and evolve with you and your experiences through life in order to put the most authentic and real feelings behind your songs and sound to showcase who you truly are to your audience and fans is the most important part that will contribute to your success and your music.
