Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Jude.
Nathan, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Argentina. I moved to the US when I was ten years old. Because of my time in both countries, I feel a strong connection to both American and Latin genres. I have been lucky enough to make a living through gigs full time for the past two years. I also write and produce music.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
The best word to describe my music is eclectic. I have never been able to settle on a few genres. Each time I sit down to write a song, I start with the chords and melodies, and they quickly begin to define what genre the song wants to become. Once the song begins to take shape, I start to listen for the overall mood of the song, and that begins to define the direction of my lyrics.
I find that my melodies and chords tend to happen within an hour or two, but lyrics normally take me a few weeks to complete for each song.
Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I believe that making an initial splash has become more difficult for artists because just about anyone can easily create music from their bedroom. That being said, I think that it is a good thing that it is so easy to create and release content because it means that there is so much more to choose from.
With the accessibility of the internet, good independent music now has the chance to rise to the top.
For those looking to support local artists, following their social media, telling your friends about them, and attending shows are the best ways to show support.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
