Check Out Maria Del Rosario Corrales’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Del Rosario Corrales

Maria , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started back in 2015 when I decided to do photography for one of my classes in high school, after I graduated in 2016 I decided to start my own business. I started off taking photos for my friends and their family members, and now I am going on 6 years doing family photo shoots, cake smashes, graduations, birthday shoots and etc.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my biggest struggles was finding a good place for me to shoot in indoors for my clients to feel safe and comfortable, I started off doing my cakesmash sessions in a park, after I decided to use my parent’s garage where I did not have any access to a/c so during summer time I had my parents put a cooler in the garage and some clients actually still continue business with me and it felt so nice. But thankfully now I am doing all indoor photoshoots at my friend’s home, where I no longer have this issue anymore with my client suffering from the hotness mostly here in Arizona where it could get so hot!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a 26 year old mom who started this small photography business back in 2019, I remember being very nervous just thinking about what others might think or say, I remember getting told this isn’t a real career you won’t make any money off this but it has became the total opposite! I had people reaching out to me asking me for photos and it made me feel good and at ease knowing people liked my work. I feel like I have improved over the years, I am self taught, and one of the works I enjoy doing the most is cakesmashes! I love decorating and just seeing babies smash their cakes and I enjoy seeing the looks on parents faces when they walk in and see the set up. What I feel sets me apart from others is my personality I am a very open person and I enjoy making my clients feel comfortable, some are still my clients 6 years later! If that doesn’t say a lot about me I don’t know what does.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Yes! If you are thinking about opening up a small business but are afraid of what others may think or say, who cares! You won’t get anywhere if you are still stuck… don’t live with the “what if” just do it! Trust me it’ll be the best decision you have ever done and seeing your process is amazing.
