Check Out Luke Crosthwaite’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Crosthwaite.

Hi luke, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Luke Crosthwaite, and I’m the founder of Crosthwaite Custom Construction. I specialize in custom construction with a strong focus on alternative dwellings, including shipping container homes. I grew up on a ranch and spent much of my early life in horse training, which shaped my work ethic, discipline, and respect for craftsmanship. Today, I bring those same values into every project we build — combining innovation, durability, and thoughtful design to create homes that truly serve the people who live in them.Growing up on a ranch, you learn early that nothing works unless you put in the work. From training horses to repairing fences and buildings, I was always building something with my hands. Horse training taught me patience, timing, and communication — skills that translate surprisingly well into construction and leadership.
As I moved into construction, I saw a real need for builders who not only cared about quality but also about problem-solving and customization. Eventually, I realized I wanted to build something that reflected my values — honesty, precision, and innovation — which led me to start Crosthwaite Custom Construction.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most entrepreneurs, the early stages were tough. I had to build credibility, secure consistent work, and manage every role at once — builder, estimator, project manager, and business owner. There were moments of doubt and financial pressure, but my ranch background taught me not to quit when things got hard.
Every challenge forced me to improve — better systems, better leadership, better decision-making. Those early struggles built the foundation for where the company is today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Outside of construction, I’ve always been creative at heart. I’ve been playing guitar for about 30 years, and music is still one of my favorite ways to unwind and reset. It keeps me grounded and gives me a completely different outlet from building.
I’m also a huge fan of art in general, and I’ve been feeling a growing pull toward creating my own paintings in the near future — especially work that incorporates sacred numerology and geometry. There’s something powerful about the structure, meaning, and balance in that kind of art that really resonates with how I see the world.
And honestly, I’d love to spend more time around horses again — this time just for fun, not for work. Horses will always be a part of who I am, and one of my biggest goals is to pass that knowledge and experience down to my kids. Sharing that connection, without pressure, feels like coming full circle.
An ideal weekend for me is a balance of creative time, family time, and a little dirt under my boots — whether that’s playing guitar, sketching ideas for future art, or just being outside with my kids.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that nothing truly meaningful is built overnight — whether it’s a horse, a home, or a life. Growing up on a ranch and later working in horse training taught me patience, consistency, and respect for the process. You don’t force progress; you earn it through daily effort and integrity.
In business, that lesson has shown up again and again. There have been hard seasons, mistakes, and moments of uncertainty, but each one forced me to grow, adjust, and become a better leader. I’ve learned that staying grounded, owning your decisions, and showing up with discipline every day matters far more than chasing quick wins.
At the end of the day, craftsmanship, relationships, and character outlast everything else — and that’s how I try to live and build.
