Today we’d like to introduce you to Ling Chen.
Ling, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. I moved to the US when I was 14. I can speak both English and Chinese fluently. I am currently a full-time radio frequency engineer and a part-time influencer/model. I really like to be in front of the camera! I actually started taking photos and posting them on my social media for my own memories and to share with my friends, but it turns out my friends and myself are not the only ones that like them. My content started bringing more attention and I realized I had something going for me.
My overall goal is to inspire people to get more experience the beautiful world, and to live the best possible versions of themselves and to inspire others by aligning with brands who convey my shared values of health and fashion.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been about three years since I started posting more content. It started slow and smooth, but once I got more followers it was not as smooth as before. I struggled a little bit on what I really wanted to be focusing on, like fashion, foodie, beauty, traveling, etc. But now I am doing whatever I like because I realized it’s hard to please everyone who follows me and so I rather not stress about what people want when I can just focus on what I want.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I went to ASU and graduated with an Engineering degree. Now I am working as a full-time Radio Frequency Engineer, what I do is create complex systems for indoor DAS in buildings with weak cellar signal for the Three major carriers, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. I am a hard worker who likes to challenge myself, sometimes I find happiness when I solve complex problems. After work, I’m a part-time social media influencer. I can be nerdy at work but outgoing after work.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family and friends have been very supportive with anything I want to do, either to be an engineer or to be a model/influencer. I am that kind of person who can’t make decisions, I don’t know what is the right or wrong way to go, but they always tell me to follow my heart and whatever decision I make they will be happy and be willing to help if I need it. I would say I can’t make it today without them. I am very lucky to have friends and family who always support me.
