Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Dieta.
Hi Kay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Honestly, there are so many small components to how I got here that I’m afraid I am going to miss, but I’ve always had a love for helping people and teaching. I grew up in a small town in the south, so all I knew was what I saw. I did not see many entrepreneurs. I honestly assumed in order to help and teach, I either had to teach in a school or work in healthcare, so I opted for the healthcare route.
In grad school, I noticed a pull on my heart towards more holistic healing activities and body art but did not act on that feeling at the time. Fast forward, I began experiencing many transitions in my life whether, through the passing of loved ones, life throwing major curveballs, “failing” in a career I felt that I should love more than I did, and losing significant relationships. All of these experiences led me back to myself.
I am an energy healer and a professional piercer. I know these seem like two drastically different walks of life, but to me, they are one and the same. I connected with body art as a form of healing for myself. There is a certain healing component to receiving piercings that I just love and gravitated towards. Around this time, I also started practicing energy healing on myself. Starting with sound healing, I transitioned into reiki, active meditation, and grounding work. This was mainly to help me heal from the craziness of life. Especially around Covid.
But I then began inviting friends over to experience this type of healing and realized, I indeed WAS a teacher. By sharing my gifts and teaching others to connect with themselves and step into their power, I was able to hold space for others and I loved that. Through this realization, I also learned that I am a multifaceted being and it is okay to have multiple passions and gifts– We do not have to choose only one passion to pursue. I decided to pursue both and bring joy, beauty, and healing to the collective.
Sol Alchemy Collective was not born from one specific moment, but seemingly small moments that expanded my vision. Moments that I did not even realize would impact me as much. It was born from a space of something that I needed for myself and suddenly realized I could provide that same need to others. Sol Alchemy is for those looking to connect more with themselves, step into their power, and unapologetically take up space.
No matter what part of your journey you are in, there is a space for you. Whether you need a listening ear, guidance, rest, or support we are here. People think healing is linear and one specific way of life. I am here to tell you it is not. Sometimes your healing is in a body modification that gives you that boost of confidence that you need to go out into the world. Other times it can be allowing your body to pause, rest and receive.
Ps. It took me YEARS before I would finally find the piercing mentor that aligned perfectly with me. I am currently a piercer with AEink Studios and am beyond grateful that she held space for me to live in my passion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh my goodness, absolutely not a smooth road by any means; however, this year I am beginning to appreciate those roller coaster times because I have learned so many lessons I did not know I needed at the time. I do not like to fixate on my “hard” times, so I’ll try to minimize this.
There were so many rocky moments, but the biggest one that I can think of is last year. I had just moved across the country from GA to AZ where I knew ONE person. I had been working in my healthcare career for about 3 months in a new part of the country when I decided to quit my job and pursue the entrepreneur life full time.
At this moment in my life, although I’d only been in the city for a short period of time, I had networked a lot and had consistent clients. So June 2022, I quit my job and decided to bet on myself. 7 days later, I broke my foot, and not only could I not participate in my passions (because I could not walk or carry supplies), but my consistent income no longer existed either. So here I was, in a new city, with no family nearby, no job, and no way to follow my dreams.
For months this went on. My finances plummeted along with my stability and I can honestly say it was one of the hardest times in my life. My mental and physical health were rocky and I had let this moment take a huge toll on me. However, in hindsight, this was one of the most influential times in my life.
The worst had already happened. I knew what it was like to “fail” and hit rock bottom. I had a clean slate and a new outlook. I could stay in that or build myself up. I learned to do all the things I wanted no matter what–do it whether scared if imposter syndrome set in, inexperienced — just do it. I learned to not lean on my own strength. There is a community that will support me.
I also learned that while these gifts are mine, God (or whatever your beliefs are) is always in them. And my prayer life/time in silence and meditation is a huge component. It was the first thing I dismissed when I injured myself but the thing that I needed the very most. And I will continue to remember that lesson throughout the rest of this journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I mentioned, I am not one thing. I cannot place myself in a specific box. I am a woman who follows her passions wholeheartedly. I practice energy healing through reiki and sound healing. And although these can be separate services, I specifically enjoy my clients who request a blended service.
This includes a topic or theme, guided journaling, reiki, sound bath, and guided meditation. It is such a beautiful and personal experience. I am allowed the opportunity to see my clients transform, experience realizations, and release deep-rooted trauma. It is incredibly rewarding to watch my clients as they release the weight of the world and experience that moment of relief. I am also a piercer at AEink Studios.
My favorite piercing at this moment is the conch and forward helix. I am in love with this as well because I am able to watch clients light up and gain a different level of confidence and joy after a new piercing. It’s not just a piercing. For some people, it’s a new experience, more confidence, and/or a safe space to be their true selves in whatever way that shows up. And I thoroughly enjoy being part of that.
I think what sets me apart from others is my awareness of a multitude of ways to heal and connect with myself. No one has to place themselves in a box. I speak that into my clients as well….”Show up as whatever version of yourself brings you joy.” But I also embody this mantra by living it and practicing it myself.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Javia (@Jaealissa) on IG is one of my favorite energy healers. She is very honest/transparent and it’s inspiring. I would definitely tell people to check her out. The “Hey, Girl” podcast by Alex Elle is by far one of my favorite podcasts ever.
She is actually one of the first people I connected most with when I first started my own journey so many years ago. If I’m being honest, I’ve always dreamed of collaborating with her in some capacity. But her IG has little gems as well if you want to check it out (@alex).
