Hi Karina , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in fashion design back in 2018. Initially, I was drawn to the world of fashion because of my love for art and self-expression. I began experimenting with different fabrics and styles, creating pieces for myself and friends. As I honed my skills, I realized that I wanted to take it further and make it my career.

Over the years, I immersed myself in studying vintage and ancient designs, which greatly influenced my style. I found inspiration in pop culture art and the rich history of fashion. This exploration helped me develop my unique approach to creating one-of-a-kind pieces.

Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve built a brand that reflects my passion for individuality and creativity. Each piece I design is a representation of my journey and the connections I’ve made with my clients. It’s been an incredible experience, and I’m excited to keep evolving and pushing my creative boundaries.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For sure! One of the biggest obstacles I faced was being the first-generation sewer and fashion designer in my family. No one around me had experience in this field, so I had to figure things out on my own. It was a bit daunting at first, but I embraced the challenge.

I taught myself everything from sewing techniques to design principles by watching online tutorials, reading books, and experimenting with my own projects. There were definitely some trial and error moments, but each mistake was a learning opportunity.

It took a lot of dedication and perseverance, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Now, I see my journey as a source of inspiration for others who might feel like they’re starting from scratch. It just goes to show that with passion and hard work, you can carve your own path!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a fashion designer specializing in creating one-of-a-kind (1/1) designs that truly reflect the unique style of each model or customer. My process involves getting to know my clients, understanding their personal style, and then incorporating those elements into the designs. This approach allows me to create pieces that not only look amazing but also resonate deeply with the individual wearing them.

The CBK brand is built on the foundation of self-expression and empowerment. I believe that fashion is a powerful tool for individuals to showcase their identity and creativity. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of kindness in everything I do, whether it’s in the design process or how I interact with my clients and the community.

What I’m most proud of is the connection I build with my clients through this process. Seeing someone wear a piece that embodies their essence and makes them feel empowered is incredibly rewarding. What sets me apart from others is this personalized approach, where I focus on creating designs that are not just fashionable but also meaningful and reflective of the person wearing them.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely! There are several resources that really help me excel in my work and life overall.

Social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest are fantastic for inspiration. I love scrolling through feeds filled with fashion-forward ideas, unique styling, and creative designs. They allow me to see what’s trending and connect with other designers and artists from around the world.

I also draw a lot of inspiration from vintage books and magazines from the 50s onward. These publications offer a glimpse into the past and showcase timeless styles that I can reinterpret in modern ways. They remind me of the rich history of fashion and how it continues to evolve.

Recent runway shows are another great resource. They provide insight into current trends and innovative designs from top designers, which can spark new ideas for my own work.

Additionally, I find a lot of inspiration in art and nature. Visiting galleries or simply taking a walk in nature helps clear my mind and allows my creativity to flow. Observing the colors, patterns, and textures around me often translates into my designs.

Overall, it’s this blend of modern resources and timeless influences that fuels my creativity and helps me do my best in both work and life!
