Today, we’d like to introduce you to July Jennifer Lamour.
Hi July, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hello, beautiful souls. My name is July, and I like the month. My parents named me after my birth month, and Jennifer is my middle name. I go by both, depending on who’s calling.
My life changed completely when I faced my fears of “starting over” at an age I didn’t think was possible. I was literally & figuratively at a crossroads in my life. At the time, my online business selling Swarovski Rhinestones was tanking; I had just gone through a divorce that left me questioning everything. I was driving for Lyft to pay the bills & my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Life had me in a swirl & I went through deep reflecting while driving many hours into the night. The fear I had was so intense, but I dove right into the unknown. I changed everything about my life at 42.
I always felt “something else” was calling to me: What is it I love, what have I always wanted to do, what am I good at and have a grand passion for? When my dad was in the hospital, we had many deep conversations. One in particular meant the world to me. This conversation landed me on the steps of the Aveda Institute of Tucson. I began my journey in 2019 with an amazing school and found myself in a dreamland of skincare.
During a microblading demo, I found my calling and became certified in microblading. My soul is deeply artistic, and this PMU beauty industry has inspired me in awe.
Every day since being certified, I have had the luxury of creating beautiful PMU art on friends, followed by referrals to a booked schedule; I am beyond humbled. Seeing my clients (who also become friends) feel beautiful is the most rewarding gift & in doing so, I feel so fulfilled after each appointment. Starting my life over has been a blessing, and I have my lovely and loyal clients to thank for this.
I have found my true destiny.
I am an artist, I delve into everything artsy; design, painting, poetry & dance. If you so desire to read a poem or more my blog is at julyjennifer.com. I have been an entrepreneur and businesswoman all my life. In my off-time, I like to collect plants & roses, practice healing ritual ceremonies such as yoga/goddess ceremonies, paint & obsess over my 2 felines & my fiance somewhere in there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road? If not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced?
It has been a pretty smooth road. I’ve been very fortunate.
Coming straight out of school to a fully booked schedule can be trying at times. I think it helped that I have a significant relationship with people in Tucson. I’m an extrovert, so being in different groups throughout the years I’ve lived in Tucson has impacted my clientele positively.
The referrals I continue to receive from my loyal clients are also significant in keeping relationships and my business successful. Sometimes, there are struggles; I would say the most challenging are reschedules.
It’s about finding a balance and having boundaries with this. Sometimes, you have to update policies to make it fair for everyone, including the loyal clients who come every month, book out through the year, and never/rarely cancel. I’m finding my balance.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My mission at LunaBella SkinCare begins with compassion & ends with beauty. From the moment you take your shoes off to the warm cozy spa bed, to leaving with glowing radiant skin or even a newfound confidence because you have new brows or luscious lips of color (Lipblushing) you will leave feeling illuminated & blissful for our next session.
I work with compassion, light & love. This may seem exotic for a simple facial, but my healing & purpose in life is to make people feel good, from the inside out. We glow outwardly when our soul glows. When we feel beautiful inside, it will show on the outside.
I believe touch is vital to feeling wonderful, loved. Giving my clients a safe space is an escape for them, incorporating products that are natural & the way you manipulate them ie; massage is essential in skincare. I give results that keep my clients coming back every month.
Taking time for self-love and self-care is needed in times like now. We constantly move at a fast pace in our daily lives, so entering my space at LunaBella SkinCare is all about you: finding your serenity, finding your beauty, and finding your confidence. My services are luxury facials with illuminated results; it’s my waterside.
My permanent make-up services tap into my artistic soul & these services go hand & hand with my perfectionist side. I’m a writer, painter & designer, so finding work where I can make art every day on clients is another medium that feeds my soul. It’s my fireside.
So again, my mission is to heal, spread the love & light while illuminating your soul so we get back to feeling beautiful as we all should.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think the biggest risk I encountered was walking into the unknown. Not knowing if I would be good at this journey but following my intuition & heart, I somehow knew I would be ok & even at that amazing.
You have to walk into the unknown with confidence; otherwise, you’re already self-sabotaging. You have to trust in the universe (or your God) that you will be protected & guided where you need to be.
Spiritually, you will be your guide, your shining light, so face your fears, trust in yourself, love yourself, and know that you are the most amazing person!
