Founded in 2013 on the Big Island of Hawaii, Black Lava Vape began with the mission to bring a healthier alternative to smoking tobacco. Over the years, we’ve grown into the Islands’ premier vaping store, proudly operating 5 locations on the Big Island. Our journey has taken us beyond Hawaii, with 3 new stores in Peru, and now, we’re thrilled to bring our exceptional products and service to the mainland in Scottsdale, Arizona. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We didn’t encounter many challenges when we opened our first shop in Kona, Hawaii, in 2013. From the start, we knew this journey would be something special, and Black Lava Vape was destined to thrive.

What were you like growing up?
Joe, an inquisitive child who always challenged the status quo and never accepted “no” for an answer, was driven by a constant desire to learn more and work harder. In contrast, Joey was quieter and more introverted, preferring to keep to himself while gracefully “needling” the fine arts of technology innovation & leadership, which eventually landed him a space on the coveted “Marquis Who’s Who in American Leaders”, published in the 2024/2025 edition.
