Check Out Jen Chapman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Chapman.

Hi Jen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I spent 10+ years working for prestigious design and international branding firms. I worked with some of the most inspirational and creative people I have ever met. I was the lead designer on many worldwide recognized brands such as Au Bon Pain, Amway, Golfsmith, Babies R Us and P&G just to name a few.
In 2011 I decided that I was going to take my career into my own hands, run my own projects, interact with my own clients without project managers in the middle. Although scary, this was the best move I have ever made for myself and my career. I have been a full time freelancer since then, working with 150+ clients per year, focusing on website design, branding, and graphic design. From digital to print, I work as a one stop design shop.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been fairly smooth, and I am grateful for that. My biggest challenge was what all freelancers and agencies talk about-keeping a steady stream of business flowing. Through refining my website, messaging and advertising, I have done well at capturing the right leads and staying busy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Website Design: I specialize in WordPress Website Development. I do both theme development and custom designs.
The biggest thing that sets me apart from other agencies is that I have a strong attention to the “ART” of the website that tends to lack with other agencies. Many website development firms are run by developers. Developers tend to only see “function” and forget the “form”. I am an artist FIRST, a developer second. With that skill, I art direct and curate themes to be more than just out of the box. I customize them to meet the needs of each brand individually. This is not an assembly line, and the clients that work with me choose me because of that. My custom designs are uniquely designed with graphics, colors, typography and images where form meets functionality.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I did get lucky a few years ago. The TV show Bar Rescue happened to be in Phoenix working on an episode and decided they no longer wanted to work with their current menu designer, so they did a google search and I popped up! I have been working on the bar rescue team for logo design and menu design since 2019.

Pricing:

  • Logo Design: $650
  • Website Themes: $1900 (5 page) -$2500 (10 pages)
  • Custom Website Design: $4000+
  • Menu Design: $600
