Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Singh
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! My name is Jasmine Singh, I created 99Finds in 2022 to document my life in Phoenix. I am originally from the East Coast and life 2,000+ miles away was a huge adjustment. This blog would be a way to share how I transitioned to life in Arizona and my “Finds” along the way. While building 99Finds, there were a few other topics that I could include on the website. Pup Finds, Life Hacks and Podcast Recommendations were new sections I felt comfortable writing about.
The Phoenix Finds section came to life naturally. As I got comfortable posting on the 99Find.s Instagram, I started to share various events I attended and fun locations around downtown Phoenix. As someone who loves a culinary experience, Phoenix has surprised me with the quality of food and cocktail bars available.
After two years of building the blog, I realized that my blog was rooted in unwinding from my corporate job. Almost all posts are a result of my desire to not solely be a corporate worker bee. It’s far too easy to tie your personal wellbeing to your job title. I have enjoyed sharing more about how my “finds” are an opportunity to have a fulfilling personal life filled with hobbies, exploring new places and not allowing the work stress to seep outside of your laptop.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part of this journey has been sharing something I created with the world. It opens you up to commentary on your experience and initially that was terrifying. This has definitely been the scariest journey thus far, but also rewarding to see the growth that has come as a result of sharing my life with the internet. The biggest help has been finding community amongst fellow creatives who also started their businesses from the ground up.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a blogger who shares helpful information about how to unwind from the stress of working in a corporate setting. 99Finds is mostly known for sharing things to do in and around Phoenix. I have enjoyed sharing events that are hosted by Black Owned Businesses for Black History Month. When moving to Phoenix it’s hard to find your place, the groups aren’t as heavily advertised as they are in other cities. I am happy to help people who are looking for events or places to go get a clearer perspective of what Phoenix has to offer.
My content is different from others because it’s based on my personal experience, I only recommend establishments I have visited more than once. While I love a beautiful aesthetic, my reviews of Phoenix locations are honest, they take into consideration, service, food and overall experience. I want the 99Finds community to have the most positive experiences at places that don’t always get the shine they deserve.
What makes you happy?
I am happiest when I get to explore a new city or country. Spending time at local resturants, museums and seeing the attractions in new places are some of my happiest memories. There is something so exciting about getting off the plane in a new place and seeing all of the regular things that make each location special. When you see mountains everyday they are easy to take for granted, but when you only see mountains occasionally, you soak in every minute.
