Check Out Isaac Escarcega’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Escarcega.

Hi Isaac, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a self taught artist that has been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I was always the artist kid. Back in high school I would paint on everyone’s shoes and they would pay me to do canvas commissions. I worked other jobs like UPS but I left my job and started following my passion. I started my full time art career in 2023 and started working on mural jobs and canvas commissions. I’ve done 1st Friday booths and other vendor events and my name started to get spread around. Just this past year in 2025 I have been getting big jobs that are over $12,000. I was also chosen by the Dysart District to paint sensory paths at every elementary school in the district. Also featured in the Dysart magazine. I’ve met so many talented artist throughout my short career like Jesse Yazzie super cool and talented muralist in phoenix. I was enrolled at Estrella Mountain Community College as well and took art courses there, but most of what I learned I just found out on my own from painting every day. I am super blessed and grateful to God that I can be able to do what I love and make other people happy doing it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel that it has its ups and downs for sure. I have had pretty consistent business with my art career since 2023. There are points where I have dry seasons but every time it slows down and I think I have to start applying for jobs I get like 5 calls for commissions. I’ve worked with some difficult people as well, mostly just communication difficulties, but in the end I make sure they get what they want, even if I have to fix the painting 100 times. I’d say most of the journey has been a great experience and I still have so much to do and so much to learn.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am mainly an Acrylic based painter. I dabble in many mediums but I’d say I mostly work with acrylics and graphite and clay. I work on digital as well, definitely easier to do and cheaper but I love to have physical media, just something special about it. On my own time I like to paint pop culture. I love music, movies and comics. My work ranges from 3D realism to 2D flat cartoon art. I also work with a lot of color in my work, really just makes everything pop. For commission work I do a lot of family portraits, dog portraits, or landscape art. I did this one commission for a dog park for happy trails RV resort on Bell Rd and I took the pictures of the residents that live at the dog park and painted them on the dog park wall, it added up to over 80 dogs painted on 3 walls! One of my coolest commissions was a gym I painted (Ascend strength and Wellness gym) I painted a portrait of David Goggins and his quote “Don’t stop when your tired, stop when you’re done!” And for the grand opening of the gym David Goggins got to come and check it out for himself and he was impressed. My favorite job was just this year in February I was chosen as the artist for the senior gift at my old High school (Shadow Ridge) to paint 3 big murals across campus. I feel like my work is set apart from others because I can get the likeness of anything down and I can do it fast. I can usually finish my commissions in a day, a couple hours even. I try to make my paintings stand out with vibrant with color as well.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m hoping to keep growing in my mural business, definitely get my murals into bigger cities phoenix and San Diego are my goals for the future. Bigger and more expensive jobs I’m hoping and to have my name get reached throughout the U.S. in general. I am planning to go to school for animation at hunnington university in Peoria to make movies like “into the spiderverse” but I feel I have so many avenues to go down when it comes to being a creative. I love murals and painting so I will keep going with that even if it’s my side hustle or a main hustle. Maybe in the future Id like a bigger crew as well, because all my jobs are just me and my fiancé lizzie helping me out with my projects. So a bigger crew could be sweet too.
