Hi, Gillian and Kelly; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We are a women-owned and -operated company with over 20 years of combined industry experience and more than 7,000 homes designed. As professional realtors, we have in-depth knowledge of the real estate market, which strongly influences all our design projects and how we manage our short-term rentals. In addition to furnishing homes, we provide interior design services, including selecting finishes, lighting, flooring, and more, and updating/upgrading interiors to improve a space and increase a home’s value. We always work within a client’s budget and ensure our design reflects your personality and style. We added Short Term Rental Property Management to our list of services in 2023 and love bringing our service-driven purpose to our clients and their guests long after the design process has concluded. We are a concierge and experience-focused concept ensuring the highest level of service to all of our properties, emphasizing quality over quantity.

About Gillian: Gillian is an Idaho native but has been in the Phoenix area for 24 years. Gillian lives in Chandler with her teenage daughter and furry best friend, Biggie. Her extensive experience in the Real Estate industry and a Degree in Interior Design have allowed her the unique perspective of approaching short-term rentals from the business standpoint, which helps clients achieve the highest earning potential through creative design and proven management techniques.

About Kelly: Born in Texas, migrated to California, then planted roots in Arizona, Kelly has been in the valley for 7 years. Her background in Marketing and Fashion Design, coupled with 6 years working in Home Staging and Real Estate, gives her a rare viewpoint on interior design and property management, not to mention her constant world-traveling and forever wanderlust. Kelly tackles projects from both her creative and business sides, providing all her clients with a wide umbrella of knowledge and expertise.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Small business ownership always comes with challenges, but having a strong team, exceptional practices, and investment in top-notch products, logistics, and platforms has allowed us the fortunate opportunity to provide our clients with the highest level of service, no matter the bumps. We work in an industry that is constantly changing and hinges on the status of our economy and the Real Estate market. Therefore, we always seek new opportunities to expand additional services to our clients during any economic climate. Like most small and large businesses, the Covid pandemic came with struggles in the supply chain and economic uncertainty. We overcame those challenges by increasing our vendor lists to close gaps in product availability and production times. We believe strongly in providing alternative routes to arrive at the same destination rather than prolonging the project’s completion. This has allowed us to hold strongly to our mission to curate a memorable brand experience for our client’s vacation homes. From concept to completion, we craft exceptional spaces through super furnishings and thoughtful design in record time.

Additionally, some new laws and regulations come out seemingly daily regarding property management. We are constantly revamping our practices to reflect compliance without sacrificing guest experience. Our owners can count on us to handle these ever-changing requirements and ensure smooth operations in their small businesses. New challenges constantly arise, but we have put careful systems in place to ensure business as usual so that our clients don’t have to feel those strains.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We are known for our wide range of options at Turnkey BnB Design. Unlike most design firms, we do not specialize in just one design style. As seen in our portfolios, we can tackle any sized project, from desert contemporary to boho chic. This allows us to service everyone in any market and location. Whether our client already has a clear vision or wants us to create their concept for them, we have a path prepared. We are unique also in that we heavily research the competition when curating a design concept. Design from a business perspective allows for the highest return on investment, realized in rental rates and resale. Interior Design is often seen as a deeply personal and emotional decision, but this is often misunderstood in the Vacation Rental Industry. The top-producing properties provide unique experiences to the widest range of guests, thus resulting in higher ROI.

We are always looking for ways to connect our community. We hold open houses on vacation rentals happy hours with leading industry professionals, and attend networking events and continuing education seminars nationwide.
