Today we’d like to introduce you to Faun Flora.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Faun Flora was started back in 2017. If you want to go further back, I have been playing music ever since I was a little kid. As I approached my teenage years, I knew music was where my heart always was. When I released my first single, “In the Darkness” under a different name in 2014, I got a lot of support and love from my peers and family which is what sort of inspired me to keep writing. Faun Flora was started because I wanted to take my music a step up from the singer-songwriter genre and started writing music with more production.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although it has been roughly about 4 years since I’ve started, it still feels like the beginning stages of everything. It has taken the last 4 years of my life to figure out my identity and how I want to present myself in my music and on stage. I am still figuring it out with each release that I send out into the world. One of my biggest struggles from the start was developing confidence that I could actually do something with this, let alone do it by myself. I basically faked my confidence at the beginning, and funny enough it became real for me. Another struggle has obviously been the pandemic, which took away live performing and the main thing that I love about music. I felt like I was just becoming comfortable being on stage and engaging with the audience and wanted to play as many shows as I could. But not all was lost, I at least got the opportunity to write as much as I could during the lockdown. In a way, it sort of helped everything fall into place.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I strive to make synth-dream pop music with honest lyrics inspired by my own trains of thought. I am most proud of how far I’ve come with my music and looking forward to where I will be in the next year or so. My younger self would have never believed that I am doing the things that I am today, and that is a really good feeling. I am definitely still searching for my sound, so each release will sound a bit different as time goes on. Most of all, I love to create a fun atmosphere when playing live shows, while also letting people create their own shared experiences out of my music.
How do you think about happiness?
Music, family, friends, and new experiences. Life is too short to worry about anything else.
