Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebonee Walters

Hi Ebonee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
To begin, thank you so much for this opportunity! I am a Phoenix native, born and raised, with roots that originate and run deep on the Southside of the city.

My story begins in a very traditional way:

Girl meets boy, girl falls in love, boy breaks girl’s heart, and leaves her with a beautiful bouncing baby girl. My dream for as long as I could remember was to be a singer. You see, I was born into the “famous” Walters family; the Walters sisters traveled the country singer gospel alongside the greats. So, naturally, I wanted this for myself.

However, with a new baby to take care of on my own, I pushed that dream deep down and found a new purpose in work.

I worked in banking: starting in collections, Anti-Money Laundering, and Auto for a span of 25 years.

When the pandemic hit, I realized it was now or never, and I took that chance on my dream.

I did not, however, get into music right away, because income was still much needed and I delved into my first social media branding journey:

Psychic work!

Turns out, I’m a damned good psychic! I worked at this business for five years taking both in person, on-line (video), and telephone clients.

This, and Lyft driving sustained me for those horrifying years in the pandemic. Finally, after finally branding myself a psychic, with sustainable income, I finally dove into my true dream: music.

I released my debut EP called Weddings Off on July 4, 2023 and the full length demo album on my 38th birthday: December 4, 2023.

Since then, I have been working on my next album. To accomplish this, I have decided to finish my degree in musical theatre by taking vocal lessons, acting, creative writing, and so much more!

The homework load is crazy, but living out my dream is literally a dream come true. As cliche as it sounds, I can finally breathe again as my true self. No more pretense or second guessing. No more hiding who I am from the world. I can finally allow myself to be me. Finally!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been an extraordinarily difficult road. Once I truly dedicated myself to my craft, I found opposition from all areas, including housing. Being evicted during the pandemic by my apartment manager who had begun sexually harassing me, filming me through my windows, and emailing me constantly was not on my bingo card.

Nonetheless, being evicted taught me an inner strength that has become unshakable. It is a strength that says “you can take my home, personal belongings, and tarnish my name, but the truth lives on.” I am where I am because that opposition taught me so much more than you know.

I now know that fighting for a worthy cause is worth it. It cannot take back what I suffered, but the parties involved in the issue have been punished to the point that they can never do what was done to me to anyone else again, and that gives me renewed hope in the world.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer songwriter from Phoenix, AZ who specializes in vocal agility (voice acting), and theatre. A little known fact about me, is that i am a highly successful “internet psychic” with a YouTube channel boasting well over 25,000 subscribers. I also worked as an in person psychic. In addition to my work on YouTube, I decided at 39 years old to take up musical theatre as a major. I figured since my daughter was grown, why not?

While taking musical theatre, I recently landed the lead role in a production I am super excited about! It was my first audition in 20 years (my first being Twilight), and without even “trying” I got the role of my dreams. I am super stoked about that, too, because acting has always been a passion of mine.

What sets me apart from others is that no matter what, I will never give up on myself. Whether that means I am releasing my debut studio album – Weddings Off, landing a lead role in my very first theatre production, or creating content as an online psychic – I execute my goals until my dreams are met because I believe in myself. And it was that same self belief that helped me pursue my landlord for illegally evicting me until victory was won as well.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Yes, I want to be an example for all women, single mothers, and small business owners (and artists – you are automatically a small business owner): never give up on your dreams! You deserve to live the live you love! You are in the right place at the right time. Not only that, but you are worthy.
