Today we’d like to introduce you to Early Bird.
Hi Early Bird; thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey as an artist in a metal band named Mansutra at age 21. We only played one show and disbanded after a year or so. About a year later, I joined another metal band, and we broke up about a year or two after I joined. While in this band, I found my engineer, Shawn Hudson of Alchemy Studios, who showed me a beat he made, and I started rapping. Once my second band broke up, I decided to pursue rap music. I released my EP “I Am” on all platforms in the summer of 2021. The day my EP came out, I also put together a release show for that night at Gypsy Parlor, which sold out. Since then, I’ve seen an increase in shows, streams, and following, and I even went on tour over the past year. In December 2022, I went on my first tour for about a week and a half with Jonny Craig and KeepMySecrets. In March 2023, I played some shows on the west coast, including Portland, OR, and LA. This was my first time performing on the west coast, and I was shown so much love. My second tour was at the end of March 2023. I went on tour with Jonny Craig and KeepMySecrets again along the southeastern coast. My tours with them were amazing, and I was shown so much love from every crowd. I plan on releasing my mixtape, “Peaks,” in June 2023, so be on the lookout for it!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, this has been a challenging road. I’m not the type to reflect on and dwell on my struggles. I like learning from my mistakes and using that to be better. I’ve thrown a lot of songs away along this road and even threw a mixtape away because it did not meet my standards. When I first started rapping, it was almost impossible even to get a show. It’s been amazing to see how I went from that to going on tours, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon, no matter what struggles I face. I will continue to use these struggles as learning experiences.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I am a rapper from Buffalo, NY. My sound is melodic, mainly rap. However, I make whatever style of rap I feel at the time. I am most proud of the mixtape I am putting out in June 2023 and the video I’m releasing for it. The video is for my single “Vile.” This is one of the best videos I’ve ever done. The director of this video is Chase Warren, one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. What sets me apart from others is that I sometimes bring a fun and severe message. My sound is diverse, and people have yet to learn what type of song I will make next. I want to continue to have that reputation and keep an open mind when experimenting with different sounds.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as achieving whatever goal the individual might have. I think success is unique to every individual, and they get to define their success. For example, I’m successful once I can live off the money I make from a tour. Making music and sharing it with others in different places around the US and the world is something I want to attain and be able to make a living from.
