Check Out Cindy Snider’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Snider.

Hi Cindy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

My art journey started by accident. I fell from a ladder and was laid up for a few weeks. I was stuck in bed, working on my recovery, when a friend gifted me a coloring book to pass the time. That coloring book helped transport me from a place of despair to a place of calm and peace. The feelings I had, inspired me. The coloring freed my mind and created a “brain-space” that I had recognized in years. As soon as I was able, I made my way to the art store, filled up two carts of all sorts of paints and canvas, converted a guest room into my first studio, and started to paint. Eventually, my busy working Mom life continued, but I now had “my time” when I was in my studio.

Over the next several years of studying artists, painting techniques, and experimenting, I found my artistic voice. I began the show in local businesses, art galleries, and local festivals; producing commission pieces while honing my craft.

Today I believe that the attraction of my work is in its vibrant colors and soothing patterns. Their modern design is perfect for commercial and residential spaces.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

The road as an artist has been slow and steady. Identifying myself as an artist took some time. I was always described as a non-creative type.

Logical? Yes.
Practical? Yes.
Business savvy? Yes.
Creative? No.way.

The draw of creating was therapeutic. I was fulfilled for the first time in my adult life. Creativity was inside of me! The second milestone of my artist journey was in finding an audience. Accepting what you are creating is beautiful and appreciated by an audience does not happen overnight. First, I found the courage to show my work outside of the comfort of my home. By the time I shared my work with clients, the struggle was limited to what to paint next.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

I am a Mom. Consultant. Producer. Artist.

My first job was and remains to be a Mom to my amazing twin daughters, Ashley and Rachel. As an empty-nester these accomplished young women continue to teach me how big the world is and the importance of our connection within our family and community.

Approximately 15 years ago, I left the corporate world and started my own business. I designed the business to come alongside people/businesses and be a resource for them to achieve their goals. This simple idea has placed me working in a variety of industries. A short list includes Politics, Real Estate, Technology, the Arts, and Finance, to name a few. My roles have often begun as a consultant. I’m asked what a consultant does. It’s simple. I’m hired to see what isn’t working in the current company structure and design solutions.

Working with Little Books Little Films, I serve as a Producer for their projects. In the ten years, we have worked together, we have produced 2 TV series and 8 movies. I’m currently working on a prequel to a movie we recently premiered. My work as an artist can best be characterized as Modern Geometric Abstract. I leverage vibrant colors and simple shapes and create combinations that are soothing as well as mesmerizing.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.

Risk is acting in the face of possible loss. The older I get, the more I realize that the loss is not acting.
