Check Out Christopher & Carissa Dalton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher & Carissa Dalton.

Hi Christopher & Carissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Chris and Carissa Dalton are husband and wife. Partners. Best Friends. Storytellers.

After twenty-plus years of dreaming and planning, we launched Huck&Dorothy with this mission: to create adventures in stories. In our own lives, film and novels have shaped who we are today. When Chris was thirteen years old, having just lost his grandfather, he sat beside his older cousin and watched Dead Poets Society. He walked into that theater torn by grief and left, filled with hope, understanding that his voice mattered and he could find a place in this world. For Carissa, the Wizard Of Oz led her to a magical place where evil could be quenched and family and friends celebrated. At a young age, she knew that cinema and motherhood would be her path.

The need for heartfelt, family-friendly, life-affirming content has never been higher. We started Huck&Dorothy to create stories that we care about, continue the tradition of great storytelling, and create new ones that will change the lives of generations.

At age thirteen, Carissa toured with Centerstage U.S.A. across the east coast, performing in an original musical and seeing many Broadway plays. This would prove to be the foundation of her love of acting. Throughout the next two decades, she would study and perform in many musicals, commercials, television, and films across Phoenix and Los Angeles while raising a family of three boys. As a writer, actor, and director, she co-wrote, starred in, and directed the feature film, All The Dragons. She has also directed thirty short films. As a teacher and coach, Carissa has worked with dozens and dozens of actors and directors, helping them elevate their acting and directing skills through the CFTN Film Lab—a collaborative class of actors, writers, and directors working to create film organically—of which she is the co-founder and co-director.

With over twenty years of experience as a writer, Chris began in marketing and then moved into the non-profit world. He is a published author, appearing in Group magazine, Relevant magazine, The Story Warren, and other publications. His novel, Nicholas and the Keeper of Names was published in 2019, and his modern-day fable, The Lantern Heart, was released in 2022. Chris has written several feature films for various production companies and independent producers in the entertainment industry. While working in Hollywood, he consulted on numerous feature films and television shows, mentored dozens of writers, provided script coverage for three hundred scripts, read over four hundred scripts for film competitions, and oversaw the writing program for Act One, Inc. from 2016-2018. Chris co-founded the CFTN Film Lab with Carissa, overseeing thirty short films from development to production. He also co-wrote the feature film, All The Dragons with Carissa Dalton.

We want to give the vast audiences more of what they are searching for hopeful, courageous tales. This is the foundation of Huck&Dorothy.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has always been our goal to be able to launch our own production company and give voice to our stories while helping others do the same. We want to give the vast audiences more of what they are searching for: hopeful, courageous tales. This is the foundation of Huck&Dorothy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Huck&Dorothy exists to save mankind through stories by inspiring artists to create and audiences to encounter new narratives which touch the soul, transform the creative industry and celebrate the victory of the human spirit.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Neither of us believes luck plays a part in our lives. However, we believe in the power of faith, prayer, and hard work. God designs us to do something with our hands; the key is finding what that thing is and doing the work to create the future.
