Check Out Carol Cambridge’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Cambridge.

Hi Carol, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career began in emergency services with a Canadian law enforcement agency. In a high-stress environment where a bad decision could result in lives lost, I received a Police Chief’s Commendation for saving the life of a police officer.

Today 29 years later, I have taught over a quarter of a million people how to navigate fear and use critical thinking skills to guide them through an emergency or a crisis. As the founder of The Stay Safe Project, I have the honor of reaching audiences around the world in the form of keynotes, workshops, and seminars both in-person and virtually.

As an authority on workplace violence, active shooter, and workplace conflict, The Stay Safe Project is a trusted source by associations and corporations for delivering powerful messages that inspires immediate action.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has definitely been struggles along the way. In this business not only do we have to be great at delivering messages and communication but we have to wear multiple hats and handle multiple functions in the company. The transition from law enforcement to trainer was difficult & thrilling but then, I had to learn how to run a business, how to be financially responsible, how to do payroll, learn social media, learn marketing and sales & how to use a CRM and different software packages.

One of the biggest learning curves was becoming a keynote speaker. Although the skills may seem similar, training and keynoting are two distinct delivery methods. Because I am an extremely interactive trainer, I wanted my keynotes to be exciting and audience-focused so I created an experiential keynote where everyone in the audience is involved.

This was a huge turning point for me. In the past, some years were lucrative and others well not very!! Once I embraced the experiential learning, the referrals that I received exceeded any expectations that I could dream of.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for customization, compelling storytelling, and the ability to engage audiences. I’m told that I masterfully facilitate and deliver information in a way that people find intriguing!

Through years of studying adult learning, I believe I am able to reach and connect with any audience.

What matters most to you? Why?
People matter most. I want people to act from strength not from fear and I have the ability to show them how to do that. Violence is increasing every single day and I want people to have the strategies, the skills, and the understanding on how they can stay safe!

The other thing that matters most to me is giving back to the community! I am always involved in one or two initiatives that supports women, veterans, and the less fortunate. I am all about the pay it forward philosophy!
